Cat Scratch 1 - Party Time

I do not own Inuyappy or and of his comrads, the situations however, are something I love to think up.

Party Time!

May was a hot month, and yet perfect for a party. Or at least, it was according to Kagome.

Currently she was on the future side of the well, grocery shopping for what she deemed 'party food'. Meaning she grabbed what looked and sounded good to her. Things that could be cooked over a fire and/or temporary grill. The cart she was pushing around was already half full and the last thing she needed was some ramen to keep Inuyasha somewhat pacified.

A few things were also accessible on the other side of the well, and would be much fresher to get there. than some of the stuff they had here. So she made her last few choices and hurried to the register to pay and get home. She had to get some of this stuff prepared before crossing the well.

On the other side, all but Inuyasha were preparing for their party's feast. Miroku was attempting to make a sturdy table out of two boulders and a wooden board while Sango, Shippou and Rin gathered and piled firewood near the pit. Even Jaken was doing his part, having been ordered to bring water.

Inuyasha on the other hand, was sitting in a tree and watching them bustle around, wondering how much longer he'd have to wait. Sesshoumaru just stood watch over the conjoined packs, scenting the air and keeping an eye out for any signs of trouble.

The area was decently shaded by the surrounding trees, and plenty of flowers to bury Jaken in, should the kids get inspired.

With Sango watching, she named each food item as she pulled them out of the box, setting them on the table set up a few feet away from the fire. "Ok, we have chips, dip, barbeque chicken, ribs, hamburger and corndogs. Oh! And I also got desserts. Cherry pie, apple cobbler and s'mores."

The mention of corn and dogs cause a few ears to perk up. Holding his curiosity in check, Sesshoumaru watched as she unpacked these odd foods.

"Miko, what are these corned dogs you speak of?" Sesshoumaru asked, stepping over to examine each food as she set it out. Surely she'd not bring a food that contained actual canine meat.

Glancing at the youkai, she smiled, "No, it's not real dog if that's what your wondering. It's just a piece of meat that was said to resemble a species of dog. I'll explain more later though, we need to get some of this cooking".

===== About 20 minutes later =====

The smells from the various foods cooking were making all of them hungry. Glances were shot at Kagome as a few hands whipped out to snag some of the smaller snack foods, mainly the chips and dip that were half-gone already.

The culprits were mainly Inuyasha, Miroku and funnily enough, Sesshoumaru. Though no one else could tell, save the few crumbs that he was attempting to brush off his person. Hiding a smile at the impatience of the males, Kagome and Sango worked to finish up and spread out the bounty of food. Sango repeatedly stacked hamburgers and cheese on buns, setting them near the condiments so the group could add the sauces to their liking.

The chicken and ribs had a plate of their own, as did the corndogs. Still, those odd foods and their origins were poking at Sesshoumaru's curiosity. He watched as the miko placed the last few dishes on the table and began fixing two small plates with equally small portions which he guessed were for Shippou and Rin. Handing the plates to the kids, she declared the food 'up for grabs'.

Like bees to honey, all but one flocked to the food in a slight frenzy.Though Sesshoumaru stood back to wait for the scurry for food to recede.

With dinner digested for the most part, they began nibbling on dessert. Rin and Shippou especially enjoyed roasting their marshmallows.

With the quiet conversation flowing around the campfire, Kagome looked at the silent Inu Youkai and began speaking." Corndogs, despite their name, are made from either pork or beef, ground and put into a thin edible skin. They get skewered on a stick and dipped into a batter made from ground corn, mixed with a few other things. After that they get fried, and you can either eat them right after that or freeze them for later."

A snort came from his brother, who was sitting on the other side of the fire. Obviously, he'd been listening in. "Ya don't have to teach him nothing Kagome. He coulda waited a few hundred years and found out himself." With a soft scoff, he flicked a mushy marshmallow in his brothers direction, only to gulp when it landed in Sesshoumaru's hair.

".... Miko, it is not truly considered a 'corndog' unless it's been speared with a stick, correct?" he questioned, glancing from her to his half-brother. A bit surprised at that, she thought for a moment and shrugged." I guess not. I've always only seen corndogs on sticks." Her answer was all he needed as he pulled some of the sticky substance from his hair.

With a quickness that almost went unseen, he stood before his brother, toukijin drawn and pointed at  the hanyou's chest" This Sesshoumaru must decide which end shall be skewered to make a new type of 'corn dog'."

......

......

Within seconds after this pause, a red blur was dashing into the forest, followed closely by one of silver, a scream piercing through the trees as they went on a round of 'chase'. "Kaaagggoooommmeeeeeee!!!"

Around the fire, several were laughing at the antics of the brothers, each knowing that Sesshoumaru wasn't set on killing, merely scaring some of the animosity out of his only sibling.
