Chapter 4: His Perseverance

They quietly walked down the deserted street side-by-side, the street lamps lighting the way as the snow fell from the sky.  Kagome was almost afraid the break the comfortable silence between them, but she had so many questions.  For years, she had started to lose hope that she would see him again, thinking he might have passed away trying to wait out the 500 years that was the distance between them. 

She turned and looked up at him.  He looked a bit older.  Time could do that to a person, even to youkai.  But Sesshoumaru survived just like he promised.
