Of Koi and Pack-Bonds

The 14 Symbol Challenge: Carp (Koi)

A strong wind blew against the mighty Taiyoukai, manipulating his silver hair to flow at an erratic pace with it. Not often would he ever be found in the Western Fortress, as he much preferred to wonder free, but today was decidedly different. Today was the day his half brother would be accepted as the son of the Inu no Taisho; the second prince to the House of the Moon. Inuyasha had always been pack, whether he knew it or not, but he had never been accepted in the youkai-society as Sesshoumaru’s only surviving family.

It would be different, he supposed.

Cold, calculating eyes skimmed the surface of the koi pond, sensing the demons living deep in its depths as his mind idly wandered to other thoughts.

The ceremony would consist of three parts. The first would be a string of battles, the very last being Sesshoumaru himself. This would represent Inuyasha’s strength and superiority above other hanyou and some youkai. After that, it would be the walk of the swordsman, where technique would be demonstrated. Last to all events, the ceremony of vows, where Inuyasha would then swear his devotion to the House of the Moon as a son and the youkai would return their vows. The only problem with this was that you needed to have someone who would ensure that you follow these oaths, someone as close as kin, but not quite. Inuyasha had chosen the miko, Kagome.

If you had strained your ears hard enough, you would’ve sworn the Taiyoukai had sighed.

Because she had been chosen, she would also become ‘pack’, so to speak. There was certainly nothing wrong with that, but it would be odd to see her again in such a long time... especially after he had revived her when Naraku had fallen to her last ounce of reiki. The pack bond that would be formed would only amplify the bond he had with her from the Tenseiga.

And if Sesshoumaru were any other than the Taiyoukai of the West, he would’ve admitted to fearing why he was not displeased if such bonds with the miko were strengthened.

Word count: 355

Finally. Something almost Sesshoumaru-centric. Almost. Not quite. Okay, barely. Whatever.
