Of Crows and Flower-speak

The 14 Symbol Challenge: Crow

“Mother, look at all of those crows!” a villager’s son exclaimed. An oddity it was indeed, for perched on the roof of one of the larger huts in the village was at least a dozen pitch-black crows.

Inside the hut was a diverse group—three ningen, one hanyou, and three youkai. Their heads were lowered, all seeming to be grieving.

Sango was first to speak, “Kohaku and Rin wouldn’t want us to be like this… especially not Rin.”

All members present lifted their heads to gaze at the middle of the hut, where two types of flowers were entwined together. One was a Hyakunichisou while the other one was a Hinageshi.

“Perhaps, but we shall mourn and grieve anyways. Later, though, we can go and beg for their forgiveness,” Miroku murmured, gaze never leaving the two flowers while Sango simply snuggled closer to him, trying to hide her tears.

A Taiyoukai moved out of the hut a moment later, followed along with a miko with tear stains running down her cheeks. Three crows took off and followed them.

“Age is one barrier that you can never destroy, Sesshoumaru,” Kagome sniffed as they walked through the dense forest.

But I will, mate… You will not have to worry about such a thing soon.

Beaks tipped up towards the sky, three crows let loose three caws as a youkai tried to wipe away a miko’s tears.

After all, the one who brought them together couldn’t possibly allow them to be conquered by the mere thing they thought they had defeated.

Time…
