Fleeting by Hairann

Fleeting

Forever beyond my reach you remain,

Unaccustomed to my touch, unaware of my pain.

Your beauty I see, but never admit,

Like a puzzle, together our pieces fit.

If it was fair, I would love thee,

But it is not, it was not meant to be.

Human are you, mortal and weak,

Demon am I, immortally bleak.

Years for you, seem mere moments for I,

To live in your world, I dare not try.

Pain and loneliness and despair,

My only reminders that you were once there.

The well you seek, your path to this place,

This portal through time, I wish to erase.

It is not fair to make me love,

What shall soon wane like the moon above.

You know not that my heart beats only for you,

This once cold and unfeeling organ, I wish it were still true.

It has become too much, I can no longer bear,

To see what will not long be there.

The wood beneath my claws does yield,

Shattering the silence in this field.

Now you are gone and I am free,

Safe from what was never meant to be.

But as I turn to leave this place,

My golden eyes settle upon your face.

In this time you have remained,

Now forever here, and I am to be blamed.

Umber eyes turn from the well to me,

Pooling with tears of misery.

You whisper coldly, your voice so blue,

“What have you done, Sesshoumaru?”
