Sesshoumaru!?

Author's Note: I had this fic posted here five years ago under a different pen name, but deleted it because I hated how it had turned out and had kinda fallen out of love with the SessKag fandom. Now I have rediscovered my appreciation and actually found this fic on Dokuga where it had been transferred from A Single Spark. So I'll be editing, reposting, and writing more. Please leave me a review to let me know what you think of the fiction and the others that will soon be reposted here.

DisclaimerInuyasha is not mine, I don't own it.

Summary: A malfunctioning Well sends Kagome back 1,000 years, there she meets a young Sesshoumaru who promises to one day take her as his mate...AUish, originally posted in '05.

Higurashi Kagome, sighed heavily as she approached the well house. She dragged her feet and made an attempt to shift the weight of her heavy backpack. Why, oh, WHY did she always have to pack so much stuff? Stupid Inuyasha and his never ending demand for ramen. Stupid school work, for most students, their final year of High School was supposed to be a breeze! But then again...

She sighed once more.

Most girls were not plagued with constant 'illnessess', which translated into going through an old well 500 years into the past. They weren't traveling with a temperamental hanyou, a perverted monk with a cursed hand, a taijya who was more often the not the victim of the lecherous monks attentions, not to mention the cutest kitsune to ever live, and all to collect shards of the Shikon no Tama.

And most girls hadn't been the ones to accidentally shatter the jewel in the first place.

No girls, of course, except her.

She was beginning to think she was Fate's favorite punching bag.

Kagome reached out and slid open the door to the well house, slowing descending down the stairs, her gaze fixed onto the well. For the past four years now, she'd been traveling back and forth into the Feudal Era of Japan to collect the shards of the jewel and she and her friends seemed no closer to completing their mission now then they had when they had just begun all those years ago. She oftened wondered if Naraku was just toying with them, playing with them as a cat did with a mouse until it finally got bored.

And then gleefully devoured it.

Kagome shuddered at the very thought.

At other times, she felt that the final battle was approaching far too fast for her liking, and she and her friends would soon have to face the despicable hanyou Naraku, where more than just their own lives would be at stake. Kagome closed her eyes briefly and took a deep breath although none of them spoke of it, they doubted they would be able to make it out of the battle alive. After all, Naraku did hold most of the Shikon shards, giving his already imense power a boost.

Not exactly the most uplifting of thoughts.

Kagome swung her right leg over the edge of the well, careful not to snag her short green skirt on the edges.

"Here I go... again," she said, a small smile creeping onto her face as she pushed herself into the well, her eyes closing slightly as she was engulfed in blue light. No matter how many times she traveled back in time, she never really got used to the feeling... almost like flying...a brief moment where adrenaline rushed through her veins and she felt free-

Kagome swore as crashed into the ground of the well much harder then usual.

At least, until she landed it felt like flying.

Kagome pushed herself up to her feet, and dusted the dirt off her clothing and looked up at the clear blue sky. She made no move to try and pull herself out of the well, instead waiting expectantly for her usual greeting upon her arrival to the past. Normally Inuyasha would appear within moments to help her out, yelling at her for being late -even though she wasn't-, or Shippou would wait excitedly to ask what she had brought him.

Nobody.

"Inuyasha?" She called raising her voice, she waited patiently for a few more moments.

Still... nothing.

Maybe they were at the village?

Or, she thought with a heartfelt sigh, maybe Inuyasha is off to see Kikyo again...

Kikyo...Kagome could not help but wonder if she would ever be anything more than 'just the reincarnation' of the dead priestess. She wondered if Inuyasha would ever see her as who she was, just Kagome.

She shook her head, freeing such thoughts from her mind and looked around, it seemed that no one was going to come help her so she would have to help herself. Kagome reached out and grasped the vine firmly grimacing as she tried to pull herself up, with the added weight from her backpack, she painfully began to slowly but surely, pull herself out of the well.

"INUYASHA?" She called, louder this time. She pushed herself away from the well and looked around, frowning slightly. Something seemed... different... was it just her... or were there less trees? And more flowers and brush...

How strange...

Kagome took a final glance at the old well behind her and then began to walk towards the village. It was unusually quiet right now, even uncomfortably so. Almost as if something... was hiding in the trees, watching...waiting for the opportune moment to attack. Kagome sighed, she really was getting paranoid. With good reason of course, after all she and her friends were constantly being attacked by demons on an almost daily basis, it was understandable that she was more then a little paranoid. Kagome shook herself mentally, she would just have to keep her guard up until she reached the safety of the group-

A loud roar of a demon reached her ears and she immediately dropped her bag and spun towards her right, her heart pounding in her chest.

Were Inuyasha and her friends fighting a demon right now?

She bolted in the direction she had heard the demon roar, panic surging through her. Even though Kagome didn't think she'd be much of a help during a fight -after all it was usually her getting rescued- if any over her friends got hurt, and she hadn't been there to help in any way possible, she would never forgive herself.

The roar of the demon was getting louder.

Alright, my paranoia is definitely justifiable, that thing sounds big, she thought a slight wave of panic coming over her. She hesitantly picked up her pace, after all, only a fool rushed into a dangerous situation with out thinking things through clearly.

That particular position, was solely reserved for the temperamental-jerk-of-a-hanyou-who-never-listened-to-her AKA Inuyasha, well, he wasn't a fool...just...very rash.

And selfish, and annoying, not to mention that-

Kagome quickly pushed her thoughts to the side and picked up the pace.

Now was not the time to be afraid, or ranting.

She had to get to her friends.

Kagome rushed through a thicket of trees, her heart pounding her chest, her breathing short and panicked. Images flashed through her mind of her friends battling a horrific demon - and this one certainly sounded horrific indeed -, she was even more concerned that she didn't hear them yelling. Usually Inuyasha would be mouthing off several insults at the demon, or Sango would be yelling at Miroku for being the pervert he was at an inappropriate time.

The shouts of her companions were not heard, and Kagome knew that she was close enough that she should be able to hear her friends as they did battle. The quiet was incredibly unsettling, and it only enhanced Kagome's growing sense of dread.

She ran through a bush, not caring that its sharp twigs cut her exposed legs. As she burst through the bush and into a clearing her eyes widened at the sight before her.

A massive neko youkai, with huge bulging muscles and even larger fangs stood menacingly snarling at her. No, not at her, in front of her.

In front of her stood a helpless child, around five or so years old, she guessed considering the child's height. She didn't really get a good look at the child, before her protective instincts kicked in and she certainly did not look long enough to discern that the child had a rather...unusual hair color.

"Get out of the way!" She cried reaching a hand out and shoving the child to the side, just as the neko's massive paw came crashing down, right where the child had been standing. The neko growled menacingly and glared at Kagome hatefully with large shocking green eyes.

Crap... Kagome thought. Now it appeared that the youkai wanted her dead, at least the kid will be alright...

The neko youkai lunged towards her and Kagome dove to her right barely managing to avoid the large black claws. Her heart was pounding in her chest as she scrambled back to her feet never taking her eyes off the demon who was snarling at her hackles raised and looking more then ready to tear her into itty-bitty little pieces.

SHIT! If only I hadn't left my bow by the well with my bag! Kagome thought looking around furiously for something, anything, to use as a weapon.

And there it was.

A bow, with a single arrow in a quiver, lying right by the stinking rotting corpse of what had once most likely been a human samurai. Without wasting another moment Kagome dove towards the fallen weapon and grabbed the bow and the arrow. Managing to roll away just as sharp claws nearly grazed her back. Kagome quickly got to her feet, barely noticing as she cut her thigh on a rather sharp rock.

I have one chance...She thought, as with shaking hands she notched the arrow, and drawing the string back, pointed it towards the snarling demon.

Aiming for right between its massive forest green eyes.

Please work, please work... She silently prayed as the neko shifted its stance, so it was directly facing her, as if daring her to hurt it, with a puny 'mortal' arrow.

Kagome's entire body began to tingle, a light feeling that seemed to start at her toes and creeping up through out her body. Kagome took a deep steady breath and pooled all her energy into that arrow whispering a small prayer as she let the arrow fly, the neko's eyes widened in shock as a bright pink wave of power, compacted into the previously harmless arrow came flying towards it.

The neko youkai never stood a chance.

It let out an agonizing cry as the purifying arrow hit it directly in the forehead, and with a blinding flash of pink and white light, the neko youkai vanished seemingly into thin air.

Kagome's eyes widened in shock and she slowly lowered her bow.

Her arrows had never done anything like that before.

But before she could ponder this phenomenon, a cold, young voice - containing a hint of anger and amusement - spoke from behind her.

"Although that was amusing, I could have handled that myself." The cold voice said and Kagome froze instantly, all thoughts of her arrow thrown to the wind.

She knew that voice all too well but it sounded... different. The voice she knew never betrayed any emotions at all, not even the slightest hint of anger let alone amusement. Not to mention the voice was much deeper...

Kagome slowly turned around to face the 'helpless child' behind her. Her jaw dropped as she took in the appearance of the child.

Just past shoulder length silver hair, narrowed golden eyes, two maroon stripes on each cheek, and a blue crescent moon that adorned the child's forehead.

There was no mistaking the stoic expression...or the beautiful face, that as he matured would only grow more beautiful...more devastatingly perfect.

"SESSHOUMARU!"
