A Mothers' Foretelling by Exxie Valentine

A Mothers' Foretelling

“You detest me. Why is that, my son?” A woman with long flowing silver hair inquired the Demon Lord of the West, standing just a few feet from her elaborate bed, made up of silk and satin. The canopy curtain hide her clear image from his sight, though he need barely to really see her.

“You have never once taken me or my cause seriously.” He replied, ice chips flying off of his words left and right. Despite the trouble she caused him, he could never bring himself to hate her.

“That only now eats away at you?”

“When before I was made in your image and now I have molded myself anew...Yes.” He smirked in the slightest. Only around her was he allowed to smile and be smiled back at. Not to say he was getting soft, it was a natural thing that brought a warmth to his chest. Much like that of a flower, unfolding to welcome the sun.

“Why...Why do you question me so?” She drawled, raising a delicate hand to wipe at her eyes. She was always so...Mischievous? Tedious? Silly?

“...” He didn't know what to say. She had the power to render him speechless but he forgot just how easily she could do so.

“ I see...So this is no pups game to you?”

“It isn't.”

“Then don't expect my answers to bear fruit for your hungry mind, arrogant son of mine.” She had a darker tone to her voice. It was strange because he had only heard her speak with that tone to his father after he came to her smelling of a human woman...and the mated scent he now knew quite well that came with the knowledge of many things. It had put a bitter taste in both his and her mouth and had never been tended to.

“I have never expected ant rightly statement fruitful from your mouth.” He stated, knowing she would take the bait. He would get an answer out of her yet.

“Enlighten me at to why, if you would be so kind...” She loved using words like that near him. She hadn't seen him smile for so long...Not a full smile anyway. It pained her to know that while she smiled and most always it was genuine, her son had only smiled his most genuine when he was a pup.

“Because it is simply put. You, are of of your mind, Keiseimaru.”

“Ah, and this is your final statement towards me?” She smiled, a sleek, deadly fang milk white against her blood red colored lips. That was something he could never work out. How could his father choose a human over his mother? Maybe it was just his more loyal feelings toward the one who raised him to be this deadly thing he was.

“Yes.” No.

“Your questions...You have not asked.”

“I know full well you will not answer me. What is the point of my staying if it serves me no leverage?”

“You know your mother well, don't you...Sesshoumaru...” Something kinder, more close to the woman he grew up loving was in that sweet voice of hers. His chest hurt slightly at the thought of leaving, though he would never let anyone else know that.

“I do. I shall take my leave now.

“Know this, my dearest one.” She called, drifting from her cloudy, dream like bed to embrace her son. She placed her head on his shoulder and took in the new scent that laced the scent she had raised and protected with a ferocity none other could rival. Not even the gods could have taken him from her...She would have died protecting this pup if it had ever come to that. In that she was like that human woman Izayoi...Dieing for the one she treasured most.

“...” He was startled at her show of affection and had to stop the urge to place his hand on hers. It was his mother...But something didn't want him to show any affection. It puzzled himself.

“You have a destiny. A destiny of hatred and sorrow. My most beautiful one...The night I birthed you from me I saw in your golden eyes...A mind sharper than that of maybe your father, if given the right soil to grow and thrive in...So long as I know it has not gone to waste, I am proud.”

“...And?” He knew that couldn't be all. It never was.

“...And a heart that will be cold and alone for as long as your mind allows it. Though for these past few years I have seen you in my dreams. A child. A pup. You run in a field of white flowers, speckles of the lightest pink and blue scattered on the petals...Like drops of blood but so much more pure. The flowers are sweet...The smell is of a sweetness your father gave me when you were just a fleeting fire in his loins.” She held him to her and he could feel the confusion in her voice. She didn't know what it meant and neither did he. A strange shivering chill iced his very core more so than usual. His mother didn't know what it meant.

“You run, searching. You morph into what you are now and the flowers wilt around you, turning black with decay. Then upon the horizon I see the sun fall like a ripe apple from the tree. The Moon lies behind me, behind us, full and ripe. Shining like that little jewel your younger brother seeks. Ahead of us, where the sun had fallen a single shimmering star shines. It pulses, as if it desires to shine as the sun does. So as I drop my gaze to look at you, you have fled. My son, you run to that star as if it would save your soul of all the sins that coat your heart as the lip color cots my lips.”

“Is that all.” He was tired...And this silly dream was just driving him more into the ground. He admired that she could have such beautiful dreams but why take so long to tell the tale?

“I see you in the flowers, a bright flash. A human is in labor in front of you, gripping your knees and back against your chest. She is a beautiful human, a young one at that. Just as Izayoi was. Tears are streaking down her cheeks for she might have been too young to receive this pup. I fear she might pass with the delivering of this pup dearest one. She is a strong one yet though...I see a strength in her I myself possess and she gives a great push to free the fluttering life from her womb. As I watch, listen closely, you lean down and kiss where her fragile neck and rounded shoulder meet to kiss the Mates' mark of the Taisho Family.

“I realize that your heart opened. It isn't your ward, the little girl. It's a human that isn't human. You didn't reach out in an act of kindness to help this lonely creature safely birth her pup, but you...You, the Demon Lord Sesshoumaru have mated and are helping your mate birth your heir. You have blessed this child girl with your love and she has returned it. Unafraid of the fact you are a demon, tears formed at the great dog demoness' golden eyes, tears of happiness.”My son hath opened his heart to someone besides myself..The white flowers waver in the wind and a new scent fills the field. I hear the soft wailing of a pup and tears fall from the girls shining eyes. Those eyes that will haunt me like that star...Shining blue and warming the heart. You lift the damp pup and stare at it and she rests her soft raven haired head against you.

“You my son, will undoubtedly rise and surpass your father. Please know that I only want my son's happiness and if that means mating a human girl Do it. What is my purpose of living if I cannot see you smile with one who is not I? When you feel the fire in your chest that threatens to pull you under when you come face to face with this star, chase it. No matter how far this light flies, you must follow it, for sooner or later she will fall and need someone to tend to her broken wings. Do not fail in catching her as she falls from her perch in the sky.”

“...” She was crazy. Sesshoumaru? Mating a human? She herself found them quite interesting the way they milled about their lives, unaware that their time was so limited. He found that the time of some was constantly tested, Rin being a perfect example.

“I am happy then. Go, my little one...Please and find the star that bears the key to your heart and return so that I may meet this heaven-sent being. Promise me...Promise me you will find her, if only to put my heart at ease. Promise your mother this one thing so that I might be content in your absence.”

“...Hn...”

Okay, excuse the grammer mishapps, but it took about an hour and a half...More than that to write this up and I have people waiting for this so I'm just...You can read over it lol

KeiseiMaru - 'Beauty perfection' becuase I think Sesshoumaru's mom would be conceited enough to do that. I'm making the 'maru' be a family thing on sesshie's mothers side.
