Silence filled the air as time slowed.  Naraku’s sinister face wore an expression of horror as an arrow containing massive amounts of purification energy soared towards him.

While the arrow seemed to take an eternity to make impact, its effect was instantaneous.  Slowly the InuTachi rose on their tired and injured limbs. 

“Is that it?  Gone, just like that?”  It was the slayer who spoke the first words.  The monk stared dumbly at his whole hand and nodded. Kikyou and Inuyasha held each other silently.

“You’ve done well, my little one.”  Sesshomaru whispered into Kagome’s ear as the miko bent to collect the jewel from the ground.

Leaning into the taiyoukai’s embrace, Kagome sighed. “It’s hard to believe that this all that is left of such an immensely destructive being.”

Allowing her mate to guide her, Kagome left behind the ashy silhouette of a spider that would forever mark Naraku’s final downfall.
