She tried to catch her breath, but it was hard. She had spent the last hour running and giggling with Shippou and Sesshoumaru’s ward. She knew that Shippou loved having Rin around, and that the girl was starved for attention.

Kagome knew all about attention. Sesshoumaru might act indifferent to his ward, but he had kept his watchful, curious eyes on them the entire day. She wished he would come play. She was sure, that would be something worth seeing.

He ran to her when she fell, and she knew that he would always be there to pick her up.
