Greed

A/N: Omg! I’m sooo freaking sorry! I’ve been really busy and my muse took a vacation for a bit. Oh and my net died for like three days. A moment of your time on this chapter. For all you that think I know where I’m going with the murders and who the killer is, I laugh. Because I have no idea myself who I’m going to have be the killer. It took me five chapters, and the middle of me writing this to realize where the hell I was going with this. Like why he’s killing and things like that. Seriously. It’s kind of funny. So while Kagome thinks of who ‘Sinner’ is, so am I. But I do kind of know where I’m going here with this. So please, enjoy this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it. And thank you all those who have reviewed my story.

Chapter five: Greed

Kagome closed her eyes at the sight of it. It was cruel and inhumane. Then again, this was why they were trying to catch this nutcase of a man. So they could put a stop to these deaths. But how many more would die? This was the fifth case and she hoped, oh how she hoped that they could figure out the body.

“This guy can be really creative when he wants to be.” Bankotsu said, running his hand though his raven hair. “I mean seriously, all this for Greed? He could have at least left the body semi in tact.”

Kagome sighed as she slowly opened her eyes once more so she could look at the body again.

It was gruesome.

The body was obviously female but was stripped down naked. Her head was cut off and so was a breast. The stomach was cut open where they found the heat sitting in. The tongue, the nose and the eyes were all gone only to be replaced by living insects that now inhabited the empty areas. Above the headless neck her uterus had been cut out and pinned there by nails. And above that were words written in blood.

SEX, MONEY, AND FAME. YOU HAVE HAD ENOUGH

Kagome was so glad that she didn’t have lunch that day. Or breakfast. She was sure she would be seeing it again and showing her coworkers what she ate.

“Heiten, do you think you can figure out who this woman is?” Kagome asked, tearing her eyes from the scene.

The raven haired man rolled his blood red eyes. “Of course I can figure it out. The question is, do I really want to? No. Why? Because that’s fucking sick Kagome.”

“And it’s only going to get worse Heiten if we don’t figure out who this nut job really is. Come on Bankotsu, let’s leave him to his job.”

Heiten sighed. “I’m dreaming of an early retirement” He sung softly to himself.

“This is nuts.” Bankotsu muttered as he drove the car down to the station. “First we have this Sinner guy out on the loose, but now we have Taisho to worry about. We seriously need to be paid overtime for this.”

Kagome sighed as she closed her eyes. “Bankotsu, we’re not cops to be paid. We’re cops so we can protect this city. And we’re going to catch Sinner.” She turned Sesshomaru’s words in her mind.

“You must think outside the box if you wish to capture him. The box you’re currently living in won’t find him at all.”

“Maybe we’re looking at it in the wrong angle.” Kagome muttered softly to herself. She went though her mind, the different things that the victims went though. One was starved to death, another had her chest cut open, the third one was torn in half and the fourth… Kagome bolted straight up. “It’s a pattern!” She said suddenly.

Bankotsu arched an eyebrow as he pulled into the station. “What are you talking about?” He asked her. “Did you figure something- Kagome get back here!”

Kagome was already half way into the station and quickly ran into her office. Pulling out all the files she spread them out on her desk.

“The first victim was Mushin who ate his own tongue and bled to death but starved at well. The second was Kagura whose chest was cut open. The third was Hakudoushi who was ripped apart.” She muttered to herself.

Bankotsu ran in, panting slightly. “What the hell are you going on about Kagome?” He finally demanded.

“It’s a pattern.” She said, not keeping her eyes off of the papers. “First was a male, then a female, then a male, and the fourth is a female. The fifth one will be a male again. But most of all, a certain body part will be missing. Get Heiten on the phone now!”

Bankotsu shook his head as he grabbed the phone and quickly dialed Heiten’s phone. “Here you go.”

Kagome quickly snagged the phone and heard the other’s voice on the phone. “Heiten, this is important. When you guys did the autopsy on Mushin, was he missing anything?” She demanded.

Heiten was silent for a moment before he answered. “Yea. His tongue. We all thought that he ate it, but it was missing. It wasn’t in his gut at all. What are you getting at Higurashi?”

“What about Kagura?”

“Her stomach, but what-”

“And Hakudoushi?”

There was a brief silence for a moment. “His internal organs.”

Kagome blinked at that. “They were missing?”

“Everything except for his stomach. His large and small intestines were completely gone. We could only figure that they went missing after he died. The cuts were clean and no signs of struggle.”

Kagome tried not to gag. She really did try not to gag. “And the woman we found today, she’s missing what?”

Heiten sighed. “She’s missing her eyes, nose, and a breast. We found her tongue. It’s still in her head. The insects kind of ate most of them. Now Higurashi, what are you getting at?”

Kagome closed her eyes as she put Heiten on the speaker phone. “I remember someone telling me that there’s more to this then we’re thinking of. And he’s right. The next victim is going to be male. Who, I don’t know. But I do know this, our Sinner is taking body parts from whomever he kills.”

“Why?” Both Bankotsu and Heiten asked her.

“Because, our killer is making a human being.”

**

Kagome sighed as she opened the door to her apartment. The day just went nuts after that. They called a conference and everything. She explained to them what she found out and what she based this all off of. After that there was a large search for anyone and everyone who was connected with the victims and who had biological  or a doctor’s degree. They were able to shorten the list, but there was still quite a list.

“God this is insane.” She muttered to herself as she removed her jacket and flipped on the lights. Or so she thought.

A frown worked its way on her lips as she tried to turn on the lights again only to find that they weren’t working.

“A black out?” She muttered to herself.

No. Her gut said otherwise.

Kagome slipped her gun out from her holster and held it up. Someone was in her house. Who, she wasn’t sure. But whoever it was, was breaking and entering. Which meant that they were going to get a body full of lead if they didn’t give up soon.

Kagome walked though the house, her gun raised and ready. First the living room, then her room. So far nothing. The bathroom was next. Still nothing. Which left the kitchen.

Slowly she approached the kitchen, her gun raised. Turning the corner, she pointed her gun only to stare in shock. He sat there. His silver hair seemed to glow in the moonlight that shown though her window, his golden eyes watching her. And that smirk said everything that he knew.

“Good evening Detective.” Sesshomaru Taisho smirked.

“No…”
