Chapter 8: Touché

Sesshoumaru’s assessment was nearly complete; he’d seen enough to be confident. One thing remained. In a blur of movement that exceeded any human’s ability to follow, he crossed to Kagome, essentially appearing in front of her. It was a simple way to remind clients that while he was flawlessly in control of his more animalistic instincts, he was not human. In most cases, this was sufficient to establish dominance.

Kagome started but quickly rallied, and when he extended his hand, she didn’t hesitate. Their palms met, and there was a faint tingle.

Hnn... she has power. But does she know?
