Sesshoumaru still felt a thrill whenever a contract was signed. Each new client was a a conquest of sorts, the acquisition of a new conundrum to occupy his mind for a season. One by one, he took them on, and one by one, they fell in line—compliant, orderly, grateful. Golden eyes gleamed with triumph as Mrs. Higurashi signed away her daughter’s life with the flourish of her pen. Mine.

“Mr. Saiga, Are you sure you can give her what she needs?”

“Hnn... all most people require is a firm hand.”

Warm, brown eyes laughed at him. “Kagome isn’t ‘most people’.”
