Time Has Separated Us

Inuyasha: Time has separated us: (SesshoumaruxKagome)

A/N: I promise I'll get O.H.B on a roll soon, but right now, I just wanted to write something quick. Okay? Sorry. And it's not canon, okay? I want Sesshoumaru to have both arms >>; Oh and Inuyasha does NOT belong to me. This is made for fans, by fans. (Well, one fan really...) Read and Review please!

~*~*~*~*~ What she longs for ~*~*~*~*~*~

Sitting by herself, Kagome drank her tea as she read her light novel. It had been several years since she had last seen Inuyasha in his time. Now, back in her own era, she was lost and life didn't seem as meaningful. She had lost the one person she had truly loved. And though she tried her best in the last couple years to forget everything, to remove all love for that time and place, she couldn't. Her heart was still holding onto those memories, even though she tried moving on, these thoughts still paraded around her mind. These memories suffocated her from the inside and haunted her dreams with those lovely memories from time past. She longed to go back to the time where she belonged.

Is there anything else I can you, miss?” The waiter asked, causing Kagome to turn her head up. Forcing a smile, she shook her head. “I'm fine, thank you.” Kagome responded kindly, turning her head right back to her book. Many things changed with Kagome since she had come back to her own time. At first, she was fine, a little sad, but she figured things would get better. However as the years went by, she only became more upset by the fact she was truly alone in this world. No one could share the same experiences that she did. And because of that, she felt alone. But she still smiled, she tried and tried to smile. Because that's what they would have wanted her to do. To live her life with a smile on her face.

Standing up, she placed her novel into her purse, paid for her coffee and began walking out of the small coffee shop. This was her typical day. Go to school, afterward get coffee, and then go home to study. Then repeat the cycle. Not too interesting, she knew that. But what else could compare to fighting youkai, walking alongside a half-demon? Nothing quite honestly.

Walking into her small apartment, which wasn't all that far from the coffee house, she crashed herself into her couch. “I miss you.” The miko whispered, addressing her old comrades, or perhaps just Inuyasha. Whoever it was, those were her last words before falling asleep. She had no strength to stay up for another moment.

~*~*~*~*~*~ A night for a business man ~*~*~*~*~*~

Sesshoumaru stared at the papers in front of him. It was close to midnight now and somehow he was stuck at his office late – again. But it wasn't as if he had anything else to do outside of the office. True, he had many women who would gladly accompany him on any late night. But he didn't want that tonight. No, if anything he just wanted to go home and sleep. However, he had to finish his paperwork. How joyous this night would be, he thought snidely.

In this day and age, Sesshoumaru was a successful business man, being able to calculate numbers before any great mathematician. Though this life that he led now was boring to the point of insanity, he made due and did his best to tolerate the humans that inhabited every nook and cranny of Japan. Letting out a low growl, he continued to work on the paperwork. Running a successful business was time-consuming, and boring as all hell. But he made a good amount of money and he lived a decent life. So that's what counted, right?

But he knew that this wasn't what he wanted. He was a living descendant of a time so much more greater than this. He was of royal blood, and yet he was living his life as if he were a meager human. But still, being here in this time, surrounded by nothing but humans . . . it made him softer.

And he hated this.

If these humans weren't so incompetent when regarding their tasks, there would have been no need for this Sesshoumaru to stay to the depths of the night in this horrid place. However that is not the case unfortunately.” The daiyoukai mumbled angrily, getting his briefcase from the side of his desk.

Grumbling on his way out, he thought back to his past. Rin, she grew up to be a beautiful young girl, but there came a time when she needed a companion. And so she married a man she found 'charming'. Though Sesshoumaru wasn't entirely sure that she loved him, he would do. He watched them from afar, and they died happily at an old age together. Though this caused him great sadness, he was still happy, though he wouldn't show it, that she was happy herself. This was all he could ask of her.

As he made his way to the elevator, he noticed one of his employees smiling at him. She was rather attractive, long dark black hair and seductive curves that could kill any man. He smiled back and walked over to her. By the end of their short conversation, they were walking to the closest bar together.

But in the back of his mind, he knew he needed to create a name to continue the bloodline. And he also knew that this, this could not continue.

~*~*~*~*~ Waking up with a miko ~*~*~*~*~*~

It was seven in the morning now, and Kagome was still sleeping even though her alarm from her cellphone was screaming insanely.

Ugh, I really don't want to go to school today.” Moaned the drowsy miko. But despite her complaining, she got up and went into the bathroom. She couldn't exactly skip school, especially since she was paying out of her own pocket and taking as many student loans as she could. (Since, well, you know, her grades weren't all that hot in High School.) Getting out of the bathroom, she placed some toast into the toaster and made herself some coffee. “Well, at least it's sunny out today.” Kagome noted as she stared out of her single window. She stared at her clock hanging from the kitchen wall. It was now seven-forty-five. Not bad, she thought, shrugging.

Soon she was dressed and heading out the door, class was about to start and she needed to head over soon. But even if she were late, it's not as if she would miss too much. But still, she did her best to make it there on time.

And so, her usual cycle began. However, there was a pit in her stomach, she couldn't tell whether or not it was a bad feeling, or just pure excitement. However, she pushed it to the back of her mind and tried to ignore the sensation. Today would just be a normal day.

~*~*~

Class had officially ended and Kagome was heading out from the classroom when a classmate stopped her. Kagome hadn't really spoken to her outside of class and didn't bother to exchange numbers with her or anything. However this girl didn't seem too bad, and Kagome did enjoy her company and her often idle chatter. “Kagome, hey, wait up!” The girl cried, a smile on her face as she carried her art portfolio underneath her arm. Kagome turned and smiled at the girl.

Hey, Tsukiko.” Kagome replied politely, looking at her. She was a small girl, short and thin. But that surely didn't represent her outgoing, loud personality. “I was wondering if you wanted to go get some dinner or something before our next class with a couple of my friends?” Tsukiko asked happily, a large grin on her face.

Sure.” She replied softly, a small smile plastered upon her lips. She liked having a reason not to go straight home and study. And plus, hanging out with Tsukiko wasn't that bad.

A larger grin spread across Tsukiko's face. “Sweet, we were thinking about going to that new takoyaki place right around the block. That okay with you?”

Kagome nearly wanted to scream that anything would be fine with her, so long as she didn't have to drawl around her house. “Yeah, perfectly fine with me.”

~*~*~

After all the introductions were done, the group sat down for sushi and takoyaki. Everyone was having a great time, and Kagome, for the first time in awhile, was having a really good time. She was at last feeling like a part of this time and age. And it was kind of nice since the men in the group were obviously interested by her, something Tsukiko pointed out to her secretly. Kagome smiled and flirted, and they all reciprocated. It's nice to be back in a group, she thought to herself.

So, Higurashi-san, I hear from Tsukiko that you don't have a boyfriend.” One of the men she came to lunch with asked quite bluntly, a smirk on his face as he leaned in closer. Kagome laughed, embarrassed, and looked away.

Well, you see---” But she didn't finish her sentence, couldn't. Her eyes were now locked with someone she couldn't even fathom would be there. Skipping a beat, her heart threatened to pop right out of her chest and into her plate. There, staring back at her, a beautiful woman on his arm, was the last person she thought she'd ever see.

And though this woman was chatting as if he actually gave damn, he was completely focused on the miko before him. Kagome placed her hand over her mouth and saw that even his jaw had lowered slightly. He didn't look any different than he did a few years ago. Well, it's hard to judge since it must have been more than five hundred years for him.

Forgetting to answer the man at her table, she got up and walked over to him. Neither noticed the woman throwing dangerous glares at the miko, they simply stared at each other. Anger and confusion tinting their faces.

Sesshoumaru.” She whispered, tears gathering at the corner of her eyes. Oh how he resembled Inuyasha, she thought.

Miko.” The word still held some disgust, but five hundred years had certainly eased up his opinion of her. The miko touched his arm and smiled. “It's back.” She commented stupidly, apparently she was in more shock than he was.

He stared at her hard, and nodded. “It is.” He replied. Even after all these centuries, he was the same old Sesshoumaru. Near silent, and only giving a few words to those he deemed worthy of them. Kagome smiled and withdrew her touch. “Would you mind if we went to get some coffee, or something? There's so much I'd like to talk to you about.” Kagome smiled, a yearning smile. She felt so close to that era with him here. She felt so . . . whole.

The daiyoukai thought about it, and releasing his hold on the girl he had come here with, he nodded. “Leave my side, woman. Your presence is no longer needed.” Sesshoumaru walked away from the two women. Kagome stared at the woman, shocked that he had said something so blunt. But the woman only shrugged. Were people really adjusted to Sesshoumaru's manner? Kagome sighed, it had been awhile since she had seen him, maybe she just forgot how cold and sharp his tongue could be.

Gathering her things from the table, she apologized to Tsukiko and to the other people in the group. “No worries, he's quite the looker, I would have done the same thing ya know.” She smiled, her mood chipper as ever. Kagome was beginning to be quite fond of this girl. She hoped that their friendship would grow from here. But she didn't think to far into this, she had to catch up with Sesshoumaru, who had no intention of waiting for her.

Finally, her cycle had been broken, as well as his.

~*~*~*~*~ End of part 1 ~*~*~*~*~

A/N: I had first intended that this only be a oneshot, but I ramble, so this will have at MOST, three parts. Hopefully I'll finish it in the second part. But yeah. For sure I'll be starting O.H.B soon. So if any of you care, I just want you to know. Lol. Anyway, I hope you liked the first part. Please Review! I LOVE REVIEWS! Ha ha :) Peace.
