Chapter 78 - The Wrong Question

Inuyasha didn't know what Kagome and Sesshoumaru had done during their time away, but he did know that whatever it was had changed their comfort level in touching one another. It seemed like every time he glanced in their direction, Sesshoumaru had his hands on her somehow: his arm around her shoulder, his hand on her very lower back, dangerously close to her ass, and more. It wasn't just the taiyoukai either. Kagome was always running her hand down the front of his chest, when he was both with and without armor. She often placed her palm on his bicep, and even now, as they walked, she was holding onto the end of his sash. It looked as if she was leading him around like a common house pet and yet Sesshoumaru allowed it.

It was making Inuyasha insane and he couldn't take it anymore. He needed to know how far they went, because if Sesshoumaru had sex with her already, without confessing his true intentions, then he was going to have to beat the taiyoukai within an inch of his life.

"Yo, wench, come here," the hanyou hollered from where he was walking behind the couple. He watched as they had a short, near-silent conversation. Kagome shrugged her shoulders and then slipped away, heading in Inuyasha's direction.

"What is it, Inuyasha?" the miko asked, trying not to sound annoyed. Her hanyou friend had been trying very hard to respect her relationship with the taiyoukai and she was proud of him for that. That feeling wouldn't last very long, however.

"Did you fuck him?" Inuyasha demanded.

The hanyou was surprised as her hand collided with his face with her full strength behind it and he stepped back in shock. She'd just hit him! He couldn't believe it!

"How dare you ask me such a thing?" Kagome exclaimed. "What I choose to do with Sesshoumaru is none of your business. Why would you even ask that? Why do you care?"

Inuyasha was speechless for a long moment. Why did he care? Because it was his job to protect her, to keep her safe, and he didn't like the idea of the two of them together, even if she'd already made him promise to stay out of it. Because he wanted to know if Sesshoumaru had finally told her the whole truth. Because he was worried about her and he didn't want her heart broken! But he couldn't just come out and say any of those things, and so he muttered to himself, "I just wanted to know why you've been so touchy-feely since you came back."

Kagome shook her head. "Inuyasha, you have to stop being so worried about my relationship. It's none of your business. Especially not what we do when we're alone."

"How is it none of my business? It's my job to make sure you're safe and happy!"

The miko laughed. "It may be your job to keep me safe, but it's Sesshoumaru's job to keep me happy."

The taiyoukai locked eyes with the miko and smirked, making Kagome blush. They both knew he was doing an exceptional job of keeping her happy, especially in private. Sesshoumaru couldn't wait to get her alone once again because he was desperate to taste her, to bring her to climax with only his tongue. He winked at her and the miko's blush darkened.

"What's going on?" Inuyasha asked, feeling completely out of the loop and having no idea why Kagome's face was so red.

"None of your business," Kagome said softly before returning to her place beside Sesshoumaru. When was Inuyasha going to learn to butt out completely? His need to be in the middle of things was making her insane. All she wanted was a little time alone with her boyfriend, if she could call him that, where no prying eyes would see them. It was so awkward, knowing that everyone was watching their every move, listening to their every word. Why was privacy so hard to find?
