Chapter 35 - Heading Back

*Water Forest* (Stella's Soundtrack Challenge)

Quickly losing the ability to control himself, Sesshoumaru pulled away and seated himself beside the miko he desired. Kagome sat up and the two stared in silent at the blue-green water of the forest pool.

"It's so pretty here," the miko said, trying to break the awkward silence. She still couldn't believe the taiyoukai had willingly given her a massage, and the feel of his tongue on her skin had been enough to make her feel as if she were losing her mind. She shifted, an uncomfortable moistness between her legs that she was unfamiliar with.

"Indeed," the taiyoukai agreed, forcing himself to breathe through his mouth in an effort to not drown in the scent of her arousal. She smelled so damn good!

"So, I suppose we should head back to the others, huh? I'm sure Inuyasha's wriggled himself free by now."

"Perhaps we should discuss our situation first?" he asked. "That is why we did not return immediately in the first place."

Kagome sighed. "Fine, so what are we doing, then? You're a flirt. I'm a flirt. We like flirting with each other. What does it mean?"

"It means that we are interested in each other, does it not?"

"So you're honestly interested in me? A human?"

"Indeed, I am," he replied honestly.

"So are we working towards some kind of relationship?"

"As I said before, I have never been in a relationship so I have no knowledge of how to proceed. All I know is that I enjoy being with you," he lied. He knew a great deal more. He knew he wanted her as his mate, but he was withholding that information in an effort to keep from frightening her away by moving too quickly.

"If you don't know how, then how do you intend to court me?" she asked, remembering their earlier talk.

"I honestly have no idea," he said with a small sigh. "If you could tell me what you desire in a relationship, that would be a great deal of help."

"But if I told you, that wouldn't be any fun. I think you're going to have to figure this one out on your own. Now, come on and let's head back before Inuyasha comes bursting in making accusations and starting fights."

Though extraordinarily frustrated by her lack of assistance, Sesshoumaru nodded. "And how will we deal with the hanyou?" he asked as he helped Kagome rise to her feet. He pulled her close and formed his youki cloud, allowing it to lift them from the ground.

"Oh, I'll take care of him. Don't forget that I can 'sit' him whenever he pisses me off."

"A fine ability to have," Sesshoumaru joked.

"Indeed," the miko said flatly, mocking the taiyoukai's usual tone. "Now, fly me back to camp," she demanded. "I like traveling like this. You might have to fly me everywhere from now on. It's a lot less bumpy than riding on Inuyasha's back. This is riding in style."

Sesshoumaru only smirked. He wouldn't complain if she decided to travel with him instead of the hanyou, but he knew Inuyasha wouldn't like it very much at all.
