Chapter five: Uniform

The sound continued to echo though the room. If it was under normal circumstances, he would have been irritated by the beeping sound. But not this time. That beeping noise was the only thing telling him that she was going to be fine.

"You know man, it's not your fault." Inuyasha said softly as he walked into the room. He had never seen his brother ever act like that. He sat there, in a chair next to the bed, his hands folded against his chin. His golden eyes never left Kagome's still figure on the bed. "Look, after what you did, the doctors said that she'll be fine. Her body is just recovering."

"It's my fault." Sesshomaru said softly, his eyes never leaving Kagome's still body. "If I reacted faster, this Sesshomaru would have prevented her from getting hurt. I was not aware that the man was going to attack her."

Inuyasha shook his head. "Sesshomaru, you're starting to go back to your ice prince self. Look, you did all you could. You even put some of your own poisons into her body to cancel out the toxins from the blade. Be glad that your poison didn't kill her."

Sesshomaru didn't move as he continued to watch her. He still blamed himself over her injury. If he didn't react so fast, she would have died. He knew that his poison wouldn't kill her. It was something he could control. His poison did its job. It killed the other toxins then dissipated. But he felt as if he was too late. Already she had damage and loss of blood. Sure the doctor said she would be fine, but he was still at fault. He wasn't paying attention. His hands gripped each other tightly to the point that he could feel claws bite into skin.

Inuyasha sighed. "Whatever. Look, I'm going to go back and talk to the doctor. Her family already went home for the night, you have to teach tomorrow so you might want to go home yourself." Seeing that Sesshomaru wasn't going to move, Inuyasha shook his head and left the room.

Kagome could feel herself floating. She had the feeling of being completely weightless that it felt nice. The place wad dark, completely black where she floated. She tried to search her mind, trying to figure out where she was and why she was there. She remembered seeing a man... and the man had attacked Sesshomaru, her history teacher. But before he could, Kagome pushed Sesshomaru out of the way.

A small chuckle left her lips. "That was really stupid of me." She muttered softly to no one but herself. She could hear her voice echoing though the darkness. "Does that mean that I died? I really hope not. Because if this is heaven, then I'm scared to know what hell is like."

"Your not dead miss."

She turned her head, trying to find the source of the voice. It sounded like a little girl. Finally her eyes set on a small girl who looked no more then ten. Her black hair was tied up to one side and she wore a white and orange checkered kimono. It was as if the girl belonged in old Japan.

"Who are you?" Kagome asked, her voice echoing again.

The girl smiled. "Your not dead miss. But you're more like... drifting between life and death. That's why it's so dark. Though Rin doesn't like the dark very much... Anyway, lord Sesshomaru saved you from getting killed by that mean man. You owe him now."

Kagome arched an eyebrow at the girl. "Lord Sesshomaru? You mean Taisho-sensei? And what do you mean that he saved me? Last thing I remember was that he flung the guy away and that's about it."

The little girl giggled. "It doesn't really matter miss. What matters is what you do now. I don't think Lord Sesshomaru could handle it if someone he loves dies again. So maybe it's time for you to take up now. Tell him that Rin says hi!"

Kagome's eyes widen as she felt the feeling of being weightless disappear and was instantly replaced with the feeling of falling...

It was late into the night. How late he had no idea. But what he did know was that he could feel Kagome slowly starting to awaken. Golden eyes widened as he saw those beautiful brown irises show as she slowly blinked herself awake.

"Kagome?" He asked softly, hoping not to sound too hopeful. "How do you feel?"

Kagome groaned as she tried to wake up. Her mind was still a bit muddy and it was as if she was wading though a swamp. "Where... where am I?" She muttered, her words slurring together.

"You're in a hospital." Sesshomaru answered quickly. "Let me get the doctor for you."

Kagome sighed as she saw the silver haired man run out of the room. It was only a few minutes before the room became crowed with two doctors and a handful of nurses. Honestly, she just woke up. Not had a blood clot in her brain. Finally after they all walked out, telling her she would be fine, Kagome let out a depressing groan.

"Did they have to hassle me like that?" She muttered. "I mean its not like I died or something."

Sesshomaru shook his head. "Actually Kagome, you did. Your heart stopped for about a minute and I had to perform some serious CPR to try and bring you back. You're lucky you lived."

Kagome chuckled as she settled in the rock hard bed for a moment. "I guess that was stupid what I did."

"That's not the word I would use." He smirked at her.

The raven haired teen arched an eyebrow. "Really? And what word would you use?"

"Idiotic is more of the word."

Kagome rolled her eyes. "Just do me a favor and don't call in a doctor again."

Sesshomaru arched an eyebrow. "Why?"

"Because unless if its you, I don't want a doctor checking me over."

Sesshomaru sat up and placed a hand on the bar to the bed. "So you want to play Doctor Kagome?" He playfully said.

A smirk worked its way on Kagome's lips. "I always loved a man in uniform."

His hand reached out to caress her cheek. "I'm willing to dress up for you."

"But Sesshomaru, I think a nurse's uniform would look oh so much better for you." She burst out laughing at the irritated look on his face.
