Journey To Other Tales by Kai

Journey To Oz

A/N: Yes I know, I’ve gotta finish the rest of my stories. This is going to be a two part story though. Really I was going to make it a one part story, but I’m fucking starving. So I’m posting what I have and I’ll finish the second part tonight.

Quick note: Sesshomaru and Kouga are now traveling with Inuyasha. I just want to make that clear. Also, don’t take this story seriously. Its nothing more then a crack fic.

Chapter one: Journey to Oz, part one.

“Alright guys!” Kagome called as she sat on the lip of the well. “I’ll be back tomorrow alright?” Seeing the nods and the approvals of her friends, she smiled as she jumped into the well and went back to her own time.

“Shippo?” Rin asked, running over to the small kitsune. “Where does Kagome go every time she jumps down the well?”

The boy thought about it for a moment. “She goes five hundred years into the future, Rin.” He answered. “That’s where she always brings back candy and her ninja snacks.”

Rin, accepting the answer, gave a small nod.

Rin sat down next to the fox boy and smiled. “Shippo, can you tell Rin a story?” She asked him.

He grinned wide. “Sure Rin! I’ve got a great one for you. It’s called the Miko’s Journey to see the Wizard of Oz. Mama Kagome told me this story once.” He then began his story, unaware of the rest of the group listening in.

“Once upon a time, there lived a girl…”

“I’m home!” A sixteen year old Kagome called as she ran into her house, her demon cat Kirara hot on her heals. “Mama! Papa?” Looking around she noticed the note on the table.

"Dear Kagome,” it read, “Your father and I went to the store. We’ll be back later. Love, Your Mother.”

Kagome smiled as she picked up the small fire cat. “Come on Kirara. Just because our parents are out, doesn’t mean that we can slack off on our shrine duties.”

“Mew.” Was her answer as she jumped out of Kagome’s arms and ran outside. Kagome hummed to herself as she dressed into her miko garb and grabbed a broom so she could start cleaning the shrine.

An hour later, she sighed as she leaned against the broom. The wind was starting to pick up and it seemed there was going to be a storm soon. “Kirara!” She called, trying to find her faithful companion. “We need to go inside. It seems like there’s a storm coming!” She stopped as she heard sirens in the distance. Tornado sirens.

“Kirara!” She cried, trying to find the cat. “We need to get inside!”

“Mew!”

Kagome spun around to see the fire cat at the front door. She was crying out, trying to get Kagome’s attention to get inside.

Throwing her broom down, she ran to the house, whole way fighting the wind that threatened to blow her away. She looked behind her, her brown eyes growing wide at the sight of the large tornado heading its way straight towards them.

She quickly got into the house, shutting the door, her breath short from running. Quickly picking up Kirara, she ran to the basement only to feel the house jerk, causing her to fall over, knocking her head against the wall. Slowly her vision went black…

Kagome slowly opened her eyes, the feeling of something nudging her causing her to wake from her slumber.

“Kirara?” She muttered, seeing the fire cat nudging her cheek with her small paws. Light shone though the window, showing that the storm had passed.

“What happened?” Kagome groaned as she stood, picking Kirara up as she did. She walked though the house, and opened the door, her jaw dropping in shock.

“Kirara…” She muttered. “I don’t think we’re in Tokyo anymore…”

“Mew.” Was Kirara’s only response.

Kagome stood in front of her house in a widely colorful area. A yellow brick road wound around the small, yet bright town, leading off into fields. “Where… Am I?” She whispered, trying to take in her surroundings.

“You’re in the land of Oz, young maiden.”

Kagome quickly turned around only to see no one. Then slowly small children began to peek around the houses, slowly coming out.

“Oz?” She asked, assuming that one of the children had spoken.

“Yes Oz!”

Kagome turned her head again, the voice coming from a different direction.

“Down here!”

Something flew on her nose, and without thinking, she slapped whatever it was only to see what looked to be the cross between a man and a flea.

“Oh my god!” She cried, almost throwing him away from her. “What are you?”

The small man coughed. “My name is Myoga. And you young maiden, are a hero among us!”

“Now, now Myoga, don’t scare the poor girl. She doesn’t even know what she’s done yet.”

Kagome turned her head again to see a beautiful black haired woman appear before them.

“My name is Sango and I’m the good witch of the east. Unknowing it happened, your house landed on Kikyou, the bad witch of the north. She had been terrorizing us all, but with your house landing on her, we are free from her rain of terror.”

Kagome gasped and looked over at her house to see a hand clutching a necklace with a jewel on the end. “Oh my God! I’ve killed someone! I can’t go to jail yet, I’m only sixteen!” She cried out.

Sango placed her hand on Kagome’s shoulder, trying to calm her. “Don’t worry my dear; you’re not in any trouble whatsoever. In fact, we are indebted to you. Tell me, is there any wish you would like me to fulfill?”

The raven haired girl gave a small nod, thinking about her home. “I would like to go home please. I don’t know how I got here, but I just want to go home.”

Sango sighed. She was afraid the girl would say that. “Unfortunately I cannot fulfill your wish. But do not fret,” she added. “For there is a Wizard that lives in the crystal palace. If you walk down this yellow brick road, you will reach the crystal palace in a day.”

Kagome gave a small nod. “Thank you lady Sango.”

“Do not thank me yet, young miko. Take the necklace from the witch’s hand. I believe that it will help you along your way. But be carful, the wicked wizard of the west, Naraku will hear of what happened to Kikyou. When you see his evil insects, you must hide and never be seen by them.”

Kagome clutched Kirara, causing the cat to meow in protest before she jumped from Kagome’s arms. The girl looked over at the necklace and picked it up, gasping as the arm curled up and disappeared under the house.

“Thank you Lady Sango,” she said, placing the necklace around her neck. “I’ll take your words to heart and be on my way.” Kagome really wanted to go home now.

“Take care miko. And be warned about the wizard in the crystal palace. He’s a bit of a lech.”

Kagome sighed as she took off on the yellow brick road. Really, what had she gotten herself into?

“Oh God I’m so tired!” Kagome groaned as they walked though corn fields. “A day’s walk? It almost seems like a couple of days. Kirara, I’m hungry, how about you? Kirara?”

She looked around, not seeing the cat anywhere. That’s when she heard a small mew from ahead. Running to find her cat, she stopped short, seeing what looked to be a silver haired boy pinned up on a post in the field, an arrow sticking in his chest. She blinked a couple times when she saw two adorable ears sticking up on his head.

“I think I wanna… touch them.” She said walking up to the post only to realize that she couldn’t reach the top of his head.

Instantly his eyes shot open, golden orbs glaring right at her. “Kikyou!” He snarled. “What, are you here to finish the job?”

Kagome blinked for a moment before glaring at him. “Excuse me! But my name happens to be Kagome. Ka Go Me!”

The boy sniffed the air for a moment before realizing that yes, this girl was different. She smelt almost… otherworldly. “Fine then, Kagome, can you get this arrow out of my chest. I can’t move because of it.”

The girl looked at him for a moment before looking down at Kirara. “What do you think Kirara? Should we let him go?”

The small cat took a sniff at him before mewing happily.

With a giggle, she took hold of the arrow. With just her touch, it disappeared and the silver haired boy fell on the ground with a groan.

“Damn that witch.” He cursed, rubbing his head.

Kagome knelt on the ground, making sure he was okay. “What happened to have you pinned to that post?” she asked him.

The boy sighed. “I angered the evil witch of the east, Kikyou. She pinned me to the post with an arrow and told me she was taking away half my brain. Now I’ve gotta find that bitch so I can take it back.”

Kagome bit her lip. “But Kikyou’s dead. But I have an idea!”

He looked at her. “Really? What’s that?”

“I’m going to see the wizard at the crystal palace. How about you come with me? I was told that he makes wishes come true. Maybe he can give you your brain back.” Though when she said it, she knew it sounded weird.

His ears perked up, reminding Kagome of a puppy who was given a treat. “That works! Kagome, my name is Inuyasha and I’m forever in your debt.” He held out a clawed hand.

Kagome giggled and shook his hand. “Like I said, I’m Kagome, and this is my fire cat Kirara.”

Kirara meowed and placed her paw on top of Inuyasha’s other hand.

Once more they were on their journey, following the yellow brick road as Sango had instructed when Kagome spotted something white amongst the black trees.

“What’s that?” she wondered.

Inuyasha arched an eyebrow. “What’s what?”

Kagome walked off the road with Inuyasha hot on her heels. Soon they reached the clearing to see a man sitting on the forest floor and leaning against a tree. He looked asleep. The miko couldn’t help but to stare at his beauty. His long silver hair was even more of a beautiful color then Inuyasha’s. With the two magenta stripes on each of his cheeks and the blue crescent moon on his forehead, he looked powerful.

“Sesshomaru…” Inuyasha growled.

The girl looked over at her companion. “You know him?”

He gave a small nod. “He’s my half brother.”

A golden eye opened and peered at the two. “Food…” He muttered. “And water…”

Kagome quickly turned her attention to the demon before them. “What was that?” She asked, getting closer.

“I need food… and water…” He muttered weakly.

Kagome gave a small nod and looked at Kirara. “Kirara, go with Inuyasha to find some berries. I know where there’s a stream nearby.”

Inuyasha groaned. “Do I have to?”

Kagome glared at him. “If he’s your brother like you said he is, then yes.” She walked over to Sesshomaru. “My name’s Kagome. Can you stand? There’s a stream nearby. I can help you get there. I don’t have anything to carry water in so I have to bring you to it.”

“I will need your assistance to get up,” he muttered.

Kagome nodded and helped him stand. Mostly carrying him, Kagome brought the quiet, yet weak demon to the small stream. “Can you drink from it?”

The man practically fell when she let him go, causing Kagome to catch him. “I take that as a no…” She groaned. Cupping some of the water in her hands, she tilted her hands so the water could trickle into his mouth. After a couple times, Sesshomaru grabbed her hand.

“That’s enough miko.” He growled, getting up on his own. “This Sesshomaru can manage on his own.”

Kagome huffed. “Obviously you can't. Why are you such an ass anyway?”

“Because he doesn’t have a heart.” Inuyasha said, coming to the two with berries in his arms.

Kagome looked over at Inuyasha before she looked back at Sesshomaru. “You don’t have a heart?”

“I have no need for such things.” Sesshomaru answered, snagging some berries from Inuyasha. “It is a trivial thing.”

“Well, because this girl has a heart, she just saved your ass!” Inuyasha snapped. “You owe her one.”

His cold sunset eyes watched the girl for a moment before nodding. “This Sesshomaru is indeed in your debt. I will accompany you to your destination.”

“Why would you want to come with us in the first place?” she asked, confused.

“Maybe I was wrong. I have gone so long without a heart, that maybe it is time that I go and retrieve it. Being with you I may be able to get it back.”

A warm smile graced her lips. “That’s great Sesshomaru. Like I said, my name is Kagome, you already know Inuyasha, and this girl here is Kirara. Its nice to meet you.”

He gave a small nod. “Likewise.”
