Kagome had just come back from the modern era after taking an extremely hard exam. Weeks prior she had many run-ins with a certain brother of a certain two-timing inu hanyou. To say the least she was close to death each time but always walked away unscathed. It puzzled her that Sesshomaru showed such patience with her temper and seemed to be amused when she was angry with him. Inuyasha started to notice and was growing steadily jealous and accused Kagome of meeting secretly with Sesshomaru to do god-knows-what. Miroku and Sango didn't mind the occasional visits from Sesshomaru and slowly warmed up to him as did Shippo.

Sighing, Kagome slung her large yellow backpack on her shoulder and trudged to Kaede's village. While on her way she saw an all to familar figure waiting for her under the Sacred Tree. He had his arms crossed (yes he has both arms in this short story!) with his head down.
"Sess-Sesshomaru? What are you doing here?" Kagome looked stunned that Sesshomaru would show up again to see her. Sesshomaru didn't answer right away instead he stood under the tree thinking. The wind swayed his bangs from his face revealing a deep-in-thought-look.
"Must I need a reason for everything I do?" he finally countered with a question. Kagome shook her head. At this point she really didn't feel like arguing with Sesshomaru so she dropped her backpack and sat down next to Sesshomaru.
"You didn't answer my question though." Kagome said softly.
"I was curious....you bring new scents with you." Sesshomaru looked down at Kagome with an emotionless mask.
Kagome blinked."You mean the food in my bag? Well if you're so interested then I guess I could give you some."
"I do not eat human food. It does nothing for me. I'm merely curious about the new scents around you." Sesshomaru said.
'Oh really...' Kagome rolled her eyes. "Really? is that all you came here for?"
Sesshomaru didn't speak and Kagome percieved this as a sign that the conversation was over. Kagome sighed once again and got up to continue on her way to Kaede's village.
"Wait. I'm not done with you yet." Sesshomaru said matching Kagome's stride. Kagome looked a little taken aback at Sesshomaru's behavior.
'What does he want? he...oh no don't tell me...he likes me! I'm with Inuyasha...but he loves Kikyo more. Perhaps it's time I let Inuyasha go. I deserve happiness and I feel....happy everytime I'm with Sesshomaru.' Kagome was in deep thought and frowned.
"What ails you miko?" came a question from Sesshomaru.
"Oh nothing, it's nothing." Kagome lied. Sesshomaru snorted. He could sense she was lying to him through her scent."Don't lie to this Sesshomaru."
"I wasn't....at least...I don't think it's that important to talk about."Kagome said.
Kagome and Sesshomaru were silent all the rest of the way to Keade's village. They avoided each others gaze until a certain hanyou was called to their attention.
"Hey wench! why are you hanging around my pain-in-the-ass brother again?!" Inuyasha was in Kagome's face in a minute. Kagome's eyes flared with anger as she poked Inuyasha's chest hard almost causing him to fall backward.
"Why is it any of your business why I'm with Sesshomaru or not. You have your stupid clay pot! Get it through your head Inu-turd! I may be Kikyo's reincarnation but that doesn't mean I'm her. I'm my own person and I refuse to take your crap! SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT SIT!!!!!" Kagome screamed.
Inuyasha got well aqcauinted with the dirt in a six foot deep Inuyasha-shaped hole. Sesshomaru snickered silently to himself. Yet another reason why he was fascinated with this human. She had supreme power over his dumbass of a brother. She was also outspoken and refused to yield to anyone. He secretly admired her fiery spirit and independence.
"Com'mon Sesshomaru! I'll share my cheesecake and coffee with you!" Kagome smiled as she grabbed Sesshomaru's arms and pulled him close to her. Sesshomaru could feel a slight blush creep across his cheeks and for once he was thankful his annoying jackass of a servant wasn't here to see this.
"What is this cheesecake and coffee you speak of?" Sesshomaru's interest was peaked as Kagome pulled him happily along the path.

When they arrived in the village they got several looks of interest but it died down. The villagers were used to seeing Sesshomaru and Kagome together.
Miroku and Sango were sitting on a log next to a campfire. They looked up and were shocked to see Kagome so close to Sesshomaru with a beaming smile on her face.
Kagome and Sesshomru sat on another log very close to each other.
"Did something transpire between you two that Sango and I should know about?" Miroku had a playfully suspious look on his face. In the next instant a hand connected to his cheek.
"Get your mind out of the gutter monk! Say Kagome where is Inuyasha? he went looking for you because he got fed up with waiting and that's when he sensed Sesshomaru."
"Oh...he's in a hole." Kagome said in a slightly evil tone giggling to herself. This made Miroku and Sango worry.
"Kagome!" a small orange ball of fluff flew at her. Kagome caught the overly excited kitsune and hugged him close. Sesshomaru winced from the ringing in his sensitive ears.
"You'll pay for that wench!" could be heard in the distance.
"Might I suggest that you two have some quiet time away from Inuyasha?" Miroku suggested. Kagome looked at Sesshomaru and then back to Miroku and Sango.
"You sure about this?"
"Yes! now go before Inuyasha gets here!" Sango said hastily.
Sesshomaru grabbed Kagome who was still holding Shippo and leapt into the air. Another moment and Inuyasha arrived his face red with anger. Mud covered him from head to toe and twigs and leaves stuck out from his hair in odd places.
"No such luck finding Lady Kagome?" Miroku asked.
"Oh shut-up monk! I know she was here with that bastard! where'd she go?" Inuyasha demanded
"I'm afraid I can't tell you. She's on a date with Sesshomaru and she doesn't want to be disturbed by certain two-time timing hanyous..." Sango smiled mischeivously.
"SHE'S WHAT?!" Inuyasha was completely shocked and fell on his rump with wide eyes. "Sh-she's on a d-d-date with my bastard brother?!"

"Wow, it's so peaceful here Sesshomaru. Do you come here often?" Kagome looked to Sesshomaru who was sitting under a tree. Kagome sat with Shippo next to a sparkling river.
"When time permits it or if I need time to think." Sesshomaru answered simply. Although he still had his usual stoic expression Kagome felt like little by little he was starting to show his true self.
Kagome began digging in her bag and pulled out a red and white checkered blanket and set it on the ground behind her. Sesshomaru looked up and raised a finely sculpted eyebrow but said nothing.
Next Kagome pulled out a medium sized plastic circular box that had a strange-looking dessert in it. This peaked Sesshomaru's interest even more. Kagome pulled out eatting untensils and plastic plates. Finally she pulled out three glass bottles that had the Starbucks logo on the front.
"OOooo.. are these sweets from your time Kagome?" Shippo could hardly contain his excitement and Kagome couldn't blame him. Sesshomaru ventured to come closer and sat next to Kagome.
"What are these peculiar things?" Sesshomaru said looking at everything on the blanket.
"It's the cheesecake and coffee I was talking about. Here, have some." Kagome plopped the see-through plastic covering off and cut a piece for Sesshomaru. Then she placed it on a plastic plate and handed it to him.
Sesshomaru nitted his brow in confusion and suspion but took the offering. "There better not be anythig in here miko." He joked.
"Sesshomaru! why would I do that to you?" Kagome gasped. She gave Sesshomaru one of the bottles then turned to cut a piece for Shippo who was silently drooling over the cake.
She finally cut a piece for herself and replaced the covering on the cake.
"MMMmmm! this is good!" Shippo tried to say with his mouth full. His cheeks bulged on both sides and he looked like a comical blowfish. Kagome chuckled and plopped a piece into her mouth closing her eyes to savor the flavor.
Sesshomaru gathered enough backbone to try this strange cake and his eyes widened in shock. "Miko, this is very delicious."
Kagome turned to Sesshomaru. "See! I knew you'd like it! i made it esecially for you actually." Kagome blushed. Again Sesshomaru's brow shot up.
"Really?" he seemed oddly amused
"Yes. I.....wanted to make something special for you. So I made this cheesecake." Kagome looked down her cheeks now an extreme red.
"Were you trying to woo this Sesshomaru with your cooking?" Sesshomaru asked in a playful tone. Kagome's head shot up and she gently hit Sesshomaru's arm.
"You're horrible!" she laughed.
An excited squeal got their attention and they both turned to see Shippo jumping all over the place in a hyper mood.
"WowthatthingcalledcoffeeisreallyreallyreallyreallyreallyreallysweetandohlookI'mhyperandI'mjumpingallovertheplaceweeeeee!" Shippo cried out. Kagome and Sesshomaru enchanged glances.
"No more of this...coffee for that kit of yours miko."Sesshomaru shook his head with a slight smile on his face.
"How many times do I have to tell you Sesshomaru. My name is Kagome- KA-GO-ME."Kagome leaned closer to Sesshomaru and planted an unexpected kiss on his cheek.
This time a full blown blush appeared on Sesshomaru's face.
"I love you Fluffy and I cherish every moment that we spend together." Kagome whispered.
"As do I......Ka-go-me." Sesshomaru smiled mischieviously. He got a sudden inkling to pull a move on Kagome.
"Hey no fair you can't steal a bite from my slice Fluffy!" Kagome stuck her finger into the icing and smeered some on Sesshomaru's nose.
Laughter erupted in the clearing scattering the birds into the air from the sudden noise.
