*Hallucinations* (Stella's Soundtrack Challenge)

As Sesshoumaru approached the mall, he winced. There were at least three different bell ringers going to town, making the shrillest cacophony of noise. He understood that they were raising money for charity, but couldn't they be a little more considerate to those with inhuman hearing? Everyone knew what that bucket was for. They didn't need all that racket.

As he approached, the noise grew louder and the pain grew sharper, causing the taiyoukai to begin to fantasize about murdering the bell ringers using only their bells. He smirked, as the mental images grew more and more creative.

Meanwhile, his beast chuckled in his mind. His supposedly more civilized half must be hallucinating if he thought he could ever do any of those things. Sure, the darker, more violent instincts still remained somewhere deep in their subconscious, but in this advanced society, violence was no longer acceptable. That didn't mean he couldn't enjoy his thoughts if they distracted him from the pain in his ears.

*Cherish* (Stella's Soundtrack Challenge)

When he made it inside the automated sliding doors, Sesshoumaru had expected the noise level to drop, but he was sorely mistaken. There were far too many people there for his comfort and, pumping into the mall over all the chatter, was the same Christmas music Kagome had been tormenting him with for weeks now.

Oh, how he wanted to just turn around and leave, stealing a few bells on his way past, but he couldn't do that. He had to find the perfect gift for Kagome; one that told her just how much he cherished her. What he really wanted to buy was an engagement ring, but he couldn't ask her to be his mate and wife until he confessed his lies and showed her everything he was hiding. Since he couldn't get her what he really wished to, he had to find something just as good.

Sesshoumaru headed directly to the first jewelry store he spotted. More than half an hour later, he exited with an almost imperceptible frown. He examined everything they offered and nothing was right. It wasn't until the third store that he spotted something acceptable.

*Moon and Butterfly* (Stella's Soundtrack Challenge)

It was stunning, and he couldn't resist purchasing something with the sign of his house on it. The charm was a crescent moon with a butterfly perched on it. Kagome often reminded him of a butterfly, fluttering about doing far more than she needed to in an effort to make everything perfect for him. Her beauty far outshined that of any butterfly, but she was elegant, like a monarch, without even trying. Even first thing in the morning, with her hair a messy crown around her head without a speck of makeup, she was exquisite. Yes, this was the perfect gift for her.

Sesshoumaru quickly summoned the shopkeeper and selected a chain to go with the charm. It was soon in a velvet box, wrapped flawlessly in shiny red paper. Finally, he could escape the hell that was the mall. He had no interest in purchasing gifts for anyone else. He knew Kagome more than likely already did that and was prepared to put his name on the tags right beside hers. She would allow no one to be disappointed on her favorite holiday.
