Chapter 24 - Captured

Kagome stood with her back to a tree, panting for breath while trying to calm her racing heart. It wasn't only beating quickly because of her exertion, but because she couldn't wait for him to catch her. If he waited much longer, she would be too exhausted to participate. That didn't mean she wouldn't allow him to fuck her senseless, of course, but it would be much more fun if she were able to play along.

Sesshoumaru watched her from above; knowing that she was waiting to hear his voice once more. They had long ago left the rows of pine trees, making perching in an upper branch a great deal easier. Ready to end the chase, the taiyoukai dropped from the tree, landing directly behind her. His arms slipped around her waist, and Kagome let out a shriek of surprise before relaxing as she recognized the feeling of the arms around her.

She turned to face him and was surprised once more, this time by the level of passion and need that he kissed her with. She had never experienced anything like it, and she silently thanked Sango for the idea of the chase. This was going to be unforgettable.

He had to fight the urge to howl his conquest to the world. He caught his prey, the woman he loved, who would someday be his mate, and everyone should know. One hand burrowed into her hair while his other grabbed her ass, pulling her closer to grind his erection against her. Kagome moaned against his lips at the feel of it, and she shivered in excitement. Sesshoumaru slowly backed her against a tree, and as soon as she felt the hard trunk behind her, she slid one knee up the outside of his leg. The taiyoukai caught it and pulled it higher. The more instinctive half of the taiyoukai was unusually quiet. He figured out that whatever he suggested, the more civilized half would do the opposite, and so he decided not to say a word unless absolutely necessary. Sesshoumaru's instincts were doing well enough on their own, pushing him to prove to his woman that he was worthy. The chase had brought up those instincts, and he only hoped they would be enough to keep the lying fool from pulling away from her.

Sesshoumaru was in heaven. His adrenaline was pumping, his blood was heated, and he had the woman he loved in his arms. It wasn't until his concentration dipped low enough that his concealment spell began to falter, and he realized what he was doing. He couldn't do this!

Kagome was a delicate human, and while he didn't doubt she would allow him to fuck her senseless right there in the woods, that didn't mean she wanted to. The last thing he wanted to do was damage her trust in him, or worse yet, her love for him. If they did this, it would be abundantly clear that he was an animal with no self-control or concern for her health and well-being. No, he couldn't do this.

The taiyoukai slowly reined in his passion, gently lowering her feet to the ground and softening his kisses, not wanting to give her the impression that he didn't want her. He did. He just had more self- control than that.

Kagome mentally growled as she realized what he was doing. When Sesshoumaru pulled away completely, running his fingers through his hair to fix the tangles caused by the chase and her tugging fingers, she whined.

"Sesshoumaru!"

The taiyoukai raised an eyebrow at his miko, but said nothing.

"Sesshoumaru, why did you stop?"

"I stopped because we cannot do this. You might catch cold, or someone could stumble upon us. It simply isn't right."

Kagome rolled her eyes and slowly began to unzip her puffy, warm jacket. Sesshoumaru's eyes widened as her bare skin was revealed. The taiyoukai's level of internal conflict went up quite a bit at that. Kagome had never said such a thing before, and it made his cock throb painfully. He wanted her. No, he needed her. She was right there, half-naked and demanding he take her, and yet he stood there fighting against his own desires. He felt like a fool. Still, he knew he couldn't do it. Even if she did want it now, she would likely regret it. If someone did stumble upon them, she would be humiliated and hate him for allowing it to happen.

The beast sighed heavily. Once again, Kagome gave him the impression that she knew exactly what she was doing. She led him on a chase, encouraged his passion, and now she was trying to convince him to give in to his instincts, even if she didn't use those exact words. He was now almost certain the miko knew that his civilized half was hiding his instincts from her and was trying to coax them out. Now it was time for him to speak up.

'She is practically begging you, and still you would deny her? What kind of man are you if you cannot satisfy your female when she asks it of you?'

Sesshoumaru mentally snarled. 'You have no idea what you're talking about. She does not truly want this!'

'Fool! She led you on a chase. She prepared herself by opening her shirt to tempt you, as if she knew you would hesitate. She clearly does want this.' When he received no response, the beast sighed. 'If you deny her, she may think you no longer desire her.' Sesshoumaru still stayed silent, and the beast knew he was making progress. 'You do not need to lay her on the ground. You already had her pinned to a tree and she was obviously enjoying it.'

The taiyoukai thought about his beast's words, as well as Kagome's, and after several long moments and throbs of his aching cock, Sesshoumaru decided that the beast was right. His miko wanted him. Why should he deny her what she asked if he truly wanted it as well? He could keep her warm while bringing her pleasure. His only problem would be maintaining his concealment. Sesshoumaru looked up just in time to see that he had already done that. Kagome's usually bright blue eyes were dulled with sadness as she slowly began to zip her jacket. He had to fix this. The taiyoukai purred, catching her attention, and when she looked up at him in surprise, he stalked back towards her, backing her once more against the tree trunk.

"Do not hide your beautiful breasts from me, Kagome," he said seductively. Sesshoumaru leaned down and caught one ice-cold nipple between his lips, ripping a gasp from her throat. The temperature change was a shock to her system, and she whimpered as his hand found her other breast, cupping the cold flesh, molding it while warming it as well.

The taiyoukai rose to his feet, his hands still on her waist holding her up. He kissed her, letting her taste her sweetness on his lips, and Kagome sighed. "That was amazing," she breathed. Sesshoumaru smirked and let out a rumbling growl of pleasure as he began to move once more. With one more issue off his mind, he felt almost lighter. Inside, his beast cheered. Now, all she needed to do was tell him she liked everything demonic about him, and maybe the idiot taiyoukai would quit lying and show her the whole truth. Things were looking up.

He fixed his own clothes quickly while she leaned against the tree trunk, and then he crouched in front of her, offering his back. There was no way she was up to making the long walk back to their perfect Christmas tree.

Kagome grinned sleepily as he carried her. This was her best trip to the tree farm yet. She only hoped no one had snagged her tree, because she didn't have the energy to pick another. It was a long while before they reached it, and only then did she realize just how far she ran into the forest. She was thankful for her taiyoukai's assistance in getting back. Too bad no she had to walk while Sesshoumaru dragged the tree.

Not long after, the tree was leveled, bagged, and strapped to the top of Sesshoumaru's car, and they were on their way home. Kagome hoped Sesshoumaru knew how to set up the tree in the stand, because she was ready for bed.
