Chapter 4: Rebirth

Sesshoumaru marveled at the skin under his hands. He didn’t think he had felt anything as soft or warm in all of his years.

If vulnerability had a physical form, this was it. Not even he could muster up the strength to keep up his stoic facade; to do so would be a great disservice to those he held dear.

His chest thrummed with feelings he knew he couldn’t express with mere words. It was more than gratitude–more than affection for the woman who had given him such a precious gift.

Cradling his pup closely, Sesshoumaru thought about his father.
