Coffee and Tea

Chapter Four – Coffee and Tea

Side Note: I’m going to be blunt. I’m usually good with my grammar and spelling. But I’m a full-time worker who works a 12 hour shift with 15 two year olds, and it doesn’t stop there when I come home to my (beautiful, wonderful) two-year-old daughter, and the other child my husband. So I’m very sorry for all of the misspellings and bad grammar. I am asking for a little help. If there is anyone who would like to beta for me, I would be very grateful.

It was early morning, and Kagome was getting ready for her coffee meeting.

When she came home last night, she flop on her bed and couldn’t stop thinking of Sesshomaru. He was different then she thought. She thought just like any other rich guy, he would be stuck up and see himself as a God. But no, he was the opposite of that. He stood tall and had a respectable atmosphere around him. He didn’t look down on her, as if she were some lowly being but as a person. Turning on her side, she fell into a blissful dream of the golden eye demon.

Now she stood in front of her mirror, smoothing out her red sweater. Running her fingers through her hair, making sure there was no knots, she nodded in approval. Looking at the time she saw it was 07:40.

Shit! I’m going to be late! Grabbing her purse, running to the door she quickly waved bye to her mom and left to the Café Shoppe.

She reached the Café Shoppe before 8 o’clock.

Just in the nick of time. Kagome walked in. she paused to breath in the coffee aroma. She loves the smell of coffee and fresh bake goods. She looked around in the small sitting area to see if he arrived.

“I guess I’m early.” Kagome felt slightly disappointed, maybe she was hoping he would be there before her, to greet her.

Kagome decided to order some tea and a pastry while she waited.

She orders ginger green tea and sat next to a window, looking at all the people that were walking past.

Kagome looked down to her watch to see it’s 08:00 o’clock. I really hope he isn’t ditching me.

“Excuse me. Is this seat taken?” A man with black hair tied in a high pony tail and light blue eyes was standing in front of Kagome. He was wearing a nice business suit of light brown color. She looked around seeing the many tables that were empty.

“Um, I’m sorry what?” the man sat down in the seat across from her.

“I’m sorry, I know a bad pick up line.” Hand behind his head, he laughed.

“I’m sorry, I’m not interested.” Trying to not hurt the mans feelings, Kagome tried to make is a soft as she could.

“It’s okay, maybe you could use the company. I know I could. By the way, my names Koga.”

Kagome eyed him up. He seemed like a pretty okay guy, but looks could be deceiving. But then again, Sesshomaru seems to be running late or ditching her, so either way he was right she could probably use the company.

“Sure why not. I’m Kagome.”

She sat there with Koga for a little while talking. She found out he was the CEO for the company called, Wolf. Inc. Where he helps out banks and smaller companies with loans and getting a building factor. She asked why he was walking around this area when he said there was a store that only had a certain doll that his friends little sister wanted for Christmas, and he was helping out getting the doll since he knew the owner.

“And that’s when I saw you sitting by your lonesome self. I couldn’t help it and I had to introduce myself.”

“oh” was her only reply, Do I really look that lonesome

“After all, who wouldn’t stop at such a fine beauty.” Kagome went instantly red. Did he really give her a complement? She always thought she had normal looks, a regular chip off the block kind a look, but not a beauty.

“Thank you.” He smiled at her. It was weird, his smile didn’t really reach his eyes.

“It’s awful nice of you to get that gift for your friends sister.” She said trying to change the subject.

“Yeah, well she deserves it.” His voice low and his face turning grim, “You see, she wont live that long. She has stage three lung cancer, and pretty soon it will be stage four.”

“Oh I’m so sorry to hear that! Give my regards to the family.”

“Thanks.” He reached over moving his hand over top of hers. She felt a chill run up her spine. Not wanting to be rude after what he said, so she didn’t move her hand away giving comfort.

Hearing a cough next to them, Kagome yank her hand free and looked up to see Sesshomaru staring at them.

“Am I interrupting something?” Laughing nervously, “No, not all.” Kagome said.

“Hn.” Chuckling, Koga stood up. “I’m sorry, I didn’t know you had a boyfriend.”

Waving her hands frantically in front of her, “No, its nothing like that.”

“Well then, if that’s the case.” Smiling he handed her a card. “That’s my business card. If you would like to talk again, just give me call.” Nodding a thanks to him, Kagome watched as he walked out of the Café.

“I apologize for being late but it seems you kept yourself occupied.” Comment Sesshomaru.

Kagome looked up stunned by his rude comment. If he thought he could talk to her like that, then he has something coming.

“Well, if you were here on time liked agreed upon, I wouldn’t need ‘said’ company.” Standing up she started to walk to the counter, “I need coffee.” Passing Sesshomaru, she stood in line waiting to be next. When her turn came up, she ordered a small coffee with a shot of cream.

“Add large black coffee, nothing else.” Kagome turned around to see Sesshomaru behind her, his eyes on the small black board that was the menu.

“And who is going to be paying for this. If case you forget, your girlfriend took my paycheck.” Without looking or answering her, he pulled a banknote out of his wallet and handed 2450 yen to the cashier.

Realizing he was just trying to help she whisper a thank you and turned back around waiting for her coffee.

After receiving their coffee, they head back to the table, cursing under her breath when she saw she still had her tea.

Taking a sip of her coffee, she began to talk. “On to business then. My phone please.” Her hand out stretched waiting for him to hand her her phone.

“Why are you working in a catering business?” taken aback on the random question she answered him.

“I’m home for the holidays from being on board for my studies.” Taking another sip, she continued, “Its been a few years since I’ve been with my family, and I wanted to make this the best holiday for them. Even though my mother tells me just being home is the best gift for her, I wanted to do something special. But with money being tight, I needed to earn some if I wanted to buy what I wanted for them.”

“What did you want to get them?” shrugging her shoulders, “Sota my little brother really likes video games, so I wanted to buy him a PlayStation 4. My grandfather is the head priest of our shrine, so I wanted to get him a book about the Edo period.”

“And your mother and father?” Sesshomaru noticed how Kagome tensed up and how her scent became sad. He didn’t like that scent; it was sour, mixed in with her natural scent.

“I’m sorry.” It seems he has been saying that a lot lately, which is unnatural of him.

“No it’s okay. My father passed away when I was young. He was a victim of a hit and run. My mother was still pregnant with Sota when it happened. We moved in with my grandfather after the incident.” She left out the part where it was her fault. She was the one who ran in front of the car. If her dad didn’t push her out of the way she would’ve been dead. Shaking the tears that were threating to come out, she picked up her coffee and took a long sip. The hot liquid helping her forget the memory.

“I wanted to get this really nice bracelet for my mom this year. Something extra special for all of what she’s done for my brother an I”

“I see.” Sesshomaru sat there holding his coffee never touching it. He learned something new about this woman. She went through hardship at a young age making her brave in her own right. She also had a very pure heart, wanting to say thank you to her mother in a purest way she could. She would have been a great warrior.

“So, my phone please. I would like it back so I can get back to work. There only so many days left.” Sesshomaru looked at her. Kagome’s phone was in his pocket. He had every intention to give it back, but now that he has learned a little more, he didn’t feel like giving it up. He wanted to learn more of her, what made her tick, what made her laugh. He wanted more. And he wasn’t going to get that if he handed her phone back. So he fathomed a plan right there. “Sadly, my assistant went out on holiday. She wont be back till after the holidays are over.”

Getting worried on where this is going she asked, “So what, what does that have to do with my phone?”

“she took it with her.” Kagomes shoulders fell, her back laying against the back of the chair. She felt defeated. “I have to get a new phone. That’s most of my money.” She could just get a pre-order of the Starwars saga for Sota since the new movie came out in the States and he likes Starwars, but that wasn’t what she truly wanted to get him from her heart. He just has to deal, I guess. I need a phone. Her phone was everything, it had all of the contacts of her professors, family and friends, it even had a few information and contacts of some museums that she wanted to apply for.

“Come.” She looked up to see Sesshomaru standing.

“Where are we going?”

“to get those presents for your family.” At that moment, Kagome stood up shaking her head no.

“No, I can’t let you do that. I’ll figure something out, don’t waste your money on me, please.”

Shaking his head no, “Don’t fret over it. It was my fault for your phone going missing.” Walking over to him, Kagome couldn’t believe what he was saying. “But everything I was saving for is expensive. It’s just too much for me to ask of you.” Sesshomaru looked down into her blue yes.

“I can afford it.” With that said he walked out, heading to the streets.

Kagome frozen, not knowing what to do, she slowly started to walk to the doors. Thinking he was right, he should pay her back. She decided to follow him. But in the back of her mind, she knew this was too overly generous and had to do something to pay him back for the rest of the cost.

Side note: Just wanted to point out, I have no clue of the currency in Japan and how to convert it to USD. I looked it up but I’m clueless when it comes to that sadly enough. Sorry for the mistake if it is one. Also, I wanted to point out about Lung Cancer. Its one of many big causes of death in the US and its very personal to me. My Yaiyai (grandmother) died of it not too long ago. And its not always caused by smoking it just happens. Hope you enjoyed this chapter as much as I enjoyed writing it. Please review or message me of your thoughts!!!!! ~SoQ09
