Thanks for the clarification. It makes much more sense. The top of each class going through US Marine Corps training has a shot at being promoted to PFC instead of private. That's where the confusion came in for me.

I was a little irritated with Sesshomaru ' s character in these last few chapters.  I believe Kagome was told if she joined the army she would be treated fairly, but the council just assumed she lied because she was human (unfair).  Then Sesshomaru tells her that he trusts his council, but in the next breath says he knows she should have been ranked 1, but the council slighted her for being human.  So he knows his council is full of bigots, but he is just fine with that.  That makes him a bigot as well.  There is no way he can promote Kagome past her rank without making it look like she did something dishonorable to be promoted, unless he calls out his council for being unfair.  Otherwise he is just setting her up for a lot of hate.  So far it just seems like a really weak move on his part.

There will Hell to pay within the fighting force with Kagome jumping rank. Some will never believe she earned her place and cry nepotism. Jena will use this as an opportunity to turn favor against her. She would be challenged repeatedly and disrespected when not with Sesshomaru. Not much good will come of this. I suppose I'm injecting too much reality into this fantasy, but coming from a military family that is what it is like. You don't jump the chain of command. She'll have to do something outstanding to prove her worth.

Yay a new update! It's really too sweet how Kagome is treated by the others. I imagine them going up through the ranks of Sesshoumaru rlly quickly :D! Like they are goingto be the Big 4 of Sesshomarus force ;). And I like how Kagomes is getting more powers by the day. Till wednsday! :)

Your A/N of giving up on giving us a count on chapter updates gave me a good giggle. I always look forward to them, for you always have so many. This new object of power, the bracelet is definitely intriguing. It granted Kagome the ability to fight off that Kami by using another. Hmmm... she was able to move him and he was powerless to fight her control over him at that moment. I also like the seer you've introduced. Quite a little pack they have. I wonder what else they'll encounter along the way to Sesshomaru's palace and what will their Lord think of the bracelet of power in Kagome's possession or rather it had laid claim on her.
