Such beautiful description for such horrid realities, but more than that, more than pretty words, it's...haunting, really, hauntingly beautiful. Lol What amazes me is your ability to engulf so much emotion, to summarize something terribly vast and pain-ridden in one single, short sentence like "No ghosts apart from herself." I can't say I didn't see this coming, but expecting one thing and seeing it written are two different things. The execution was flawless... It had flow, felt like slinking in deep waters, coming up for air only to swallow more water. I dunno whom I pity more here, but everyone is to be pitied -- even Sesshomaru. This story is amazing. You are such a talented and original writer and I look forward to every new chapter you post. Stasis is my favorite work of yours and this most recent chapter was excellent, as usual. I did have one question about the timeline though... According to the most recent chapter, she only met Kohaku 1 year ago but has been with Sesshoumaru for 17 years. The wording of the previous chapter suggests that Kagome and Sesshoumaru still hadn't been together as of the time she met with Kohaku, so does that mean that they haven't been together at all in 16 years?

I hope you don't intend on them staying together till the end of the story. I can already see Kagome reaching absolution in death and Sesshomaru receiving a karmic ending. Maybe becoming trapped in the jewel or being bound to Naraku in Hell.
Oh this chapter was sublime both in tone and character interaction. There were some sentences in there that caught my eye like "Perhaps suffering is the only currency." It's so poignant and terribly true...I think it summarizes her reality in a scant six words which is amazing!
Hm, so, the ice lord speaks of Izayoi and declares he was a twisted fondness for human females, but I don't think that's it, or more like not exactly it. If you ask me, I think is jealous - yes jealous - of the things his father and his brother possessed and gained strength from, things he lacks and for a good reason. Is this some messed up attempt to bond with his family, I wonder? Even killing his brother created a sort of bond...I dunno...it's so complicated and so simple all at once. He's a an enigma, an antithesis of himself, and intrigues me to no end. Lol Kudos for his portrayal!
Poor Kagome, she can't escape what's coming but she still tries despite the futility of her resistance. As time goes by though, she fights more with words and less with actions which is very good. She's learning, maturing, if you want. Woo! Clever girl!
And what's this bait you are dangling in front of us? Kohaku? I can believe all the titles and the fame and the experience, but...the big BUT named Sesshomaru. I can't help but feel that something will happen though. I mean, Kagome is walking a fine line between clarity and lunacy and Kohaku...I think he's unbearably lonely...he must be. That's never a good combination. :sighs:
The ending lines of the chapter though were so intense and beautiful! A mere illusion, him lying dead at her feat, so lovely written that I could see her sweet, sweet smile as she stares down at him then...probably kills herself. Yep, morbid I be, but it makes sense in my head.
