An amazing start you've got here, as well as an interesting plot. I, myself, have often wondered over some of those very things, so it's cool to see that you've brought them into light and used the existing storyline to open up an entirely new world of possibilities. Great job!

Kagome reminds me a bit of how i think a kitsune would act, seeking knowledge and being very tricksy but at the same time leading a person towards what they really would need/want and i'm really enjoying this, you are positively awesome with kagome's character, also loving that she brought sesshomaru to the library, absolutely fantstic choice

"What is Kagome"...  Perhaps that would explain why her family seems so nonchalant about her traipsing off to a dangerous era to do dangerous deeds?  A normal mother would have issues with her daughter going off with strangers, let alone a stranger who tried to kill her.

I'm totally impressed by the list of things and reasons you have for the case of Kagome being something...'other'. (I'm betting a kami or something) if she's something 'other' are her family also?

I wonder what'll happen when Sesshomaru and Kagome meet each other again face to face...and just how long it'll be before Sesshomaru finds out what his subconscious has already accepted.

Finally! Can you believe it when I say I had the same questions and they never got answered? Kagome´s character is a mistery and always got down-played in favor of the misery of the others. Her so called friends were so absorbed with their own problems that they never saw what happened with Kagome and everything she was and did. She isn´t just the reincarnation of a strong priestess, that doesn´t explain her immense power after the defeat of Magatsushi, her using that bow with the vanishing arrows or that she alone was always the one who could not be trapped. Didn´t Kikyou fall into traps from Naraku, too? Only nobody voiced such a thing because the great Kikyou was infallible. Actually, I don´t have anything against Kikyou but I always hated her arrogance or how she belittled Kagome, a young girl who had no training at all and needed all the help she got. Kikyou just didn´t want to accept that she herself was a young girl (Rumiko says about 16/17) just like Kagome and Sango who was also only 16. Everyone has faults and all of them did mistakes. But Kagome´s greatest strength has always been that she was comfortable with who she is and to accept the faults and weaknesses, like negative emotions, she and every other being have, too. Non of the other characters can claim that and that is why she is such a special and beloved character even if she´s untrained and physically weak. Being a good and strong fighter has never endeared me Sango´s character. I would prefer Kikyou any time over her.

Kagpme was much too strong even as her powers were sealed and while Miroku is a really strong priest he always had to use chants and prayers to use his houriki. Too bad her friends never appreciated how much she did for them. Inuyasha, who knows her best and the longest, should have seen it but he was just sometimes suprised to see what she did or was too blinded by Kikyou. I think that Miroku suspected something as he was the one who was thinking "did I see right, that girl just purified the shard as if it were nothing", that was when they met Miroku for the first time and Kagome easily picks the tainted shard from the blood the painter used to draw and purifies it instantly.

I also like how you portray Kagome when she is older. Many authors refuse to let Kagome grow up. They make her older by age but portray her as if she´s still fifteen. I really hate that. Everyone acts more mature even Rin but Kagome still behaves like a young and immature girl. How stupid is that? Didn´t she show many times how she was forced to mature by everything she had to do? Going to the past to fight a dangerous foe, living a human life in modern times which is stressful enough and trying to pass school as to not embarass her own family if she were to fail. Loosing face through failing in anything is really not a small thing for Japanese people, Westerner forget things like that often times. 

Just one thing, you gave Sango the sama suffix as Kaede told Rin to call her into her hut. That´s not right, Sango´s status would be under Kaede´s as she is the priestess of the village and Sango an ordinary woman, slayer or not. Kaede only refers to Miroku with dono and to Kagome and Sango with chan. The changing of the suffixes changes so many things which cannot be ignored in Japan, it is rather embarrasing for Japanese to use the wrong suffix and as the story is set in ancient Japan I think it´s important that such small things which are still important should be right. That´s my opinion.
