Ah, tragedy!  I think, no matter how badly InuYasha treats Kagome, he will still feel like he owns her.  That is just my own perception of him.  And there are plenty of human guys out there just like that, in our own era.  They denigrate a woman (devaluation), but will not accept the idea that, if she is that unacceptable to him, she could move on and find someone who likes her better.  By reading this story, I guess I'm not the only one who sees InuYasha this way!  Maybe he could handle the concept of Kagome going with someone else and be merely hostile, and not violent, but it would require just the right circumstances.
