Naraku isn't the only dangerous being around and something else is trying to steal the shards, both from him and Kagome. Something ancient. And no one is able to stop it on their own. But maybe, just maybe, joining forces will work. Other issues prevent Inuyasha's gang from fulfilling their duties too, and Sesshoumaru must try and compensate for that. Sess/Kag.
