Just a Ronin by Michelle

Old Annoying Frogs

Kag's POV

The gang died years ago, or at least Sango and Miroku did. Shippo started a family and Inuyasha went 'wild' after Kikyo died for the last time. Rin gained a family with Kohaku, and they both became grandparents before passing on this winter. For a short time I wished I could die too, but everytime I tried it wouldn't work. Somehow everytime a strong youkai prescence would be near and my powers would kick in to heal me.

He'd actually come into the village every now and then, but only to visit one of Rin's granddaughters, Mei. Mei was rejected by her parents due to the fact she was born from an affair between her mother and a black dog demon. The dog demon ended up being killed by the men of the village. Sesshomaru found out about Mei and nearly killed her parents for trying to get rid of her. After that Mei turned into his new Rin.

That's all that brought me to where I am today. Janurary 2014.

"Miko." Sesshomaru tried to fix a tie while talking to me and it looked to be going in the way of a bow. "What is it that you're doing?"

"Just sending Souta some information for his paper." I closed the laptop and journal before getting up to untie the knot Sesshomaru had made around his neck. "Why are you wearing a tie to the fair anyways?"

"Because," Sesshomaru turned to the mirror and ran a hand trough his hair, "it compliments my sexiness."

"And did Mei tell you this?" I laughed. He had been trying to get someone's attention for quite awhile. The worst part: He refused to tell me who it was. I finished the tie and put it over his head. "So you ever gonna tell me who this mystery lady is?"

"No." He smiled at his reflection. "Now are you going with me or not?"

"No. I've got some stuff to do here. Anyways, wouldn't I scare away the girl?" His smile dropped, but I just shook it off as him being a pack animal.

"Okay, I'll be back around nine."

Once he was out I opened my laptop and continued typing.

Eventually I became tired of the villagers unreasonable hatred. I had to leave. A winter night after they had tried to kill Shippo, I packed everything I could and left. Not long after entering the forest I was stopped by a small frog demon with a big stick.

"Watch where you're going girl!" I recognized the voice and looked up from my path.

"Jakken?" He jump far back.

"It's you, the young miko?"

"I guess."

"What are you doing in my portion of the forest!" He must've been a cold blooded creature but I was never good enough at Biology class so don't ask me.

"Your forest? This is Inuyasha's forest, Jakken."

"So what are you doing here?" He didn't seem to want to leave the main topic.

"I guess," I didn't know what I was doing there. "I guess I'm leaving the village for good."

His eyes bulged out. "You're becoming a ronin? You know Sesshomaru-sama hates them people right?"

"Ronin? But that only applies to-"

Yeah right! It applies to anyone and every situation!" He then smiled and crossed his arms. "So you're just a ronin now? Ha! Have a nice life!" Jakken walked into the darkness and I wondered,

'Am I a ronin?'
