Chapter 192 - The Surprise

Dinner was an awkward affair, with both Kagome and Sesshoumaru eager to get past the meal. It was obvious to everyone that they had somewhere they would rather be, and once Sango offered to put the children to bed, the pair practically flew out of the dining hall.
Sesshoumaru couldn't help his eagerness. His angel's surprise was finished, which meant that they could be mated that night. Besides being eager, however, he was also nervous. In just hours he would be a mated male, his soul forever fused with Kagome's. He wasn't having second thoughts, because he knew that the miko was the only one for him, this was just an enormous life change. He could only hope that the mating went well. It wasn't often that a taiyoukai mated a powerful miko. In fact, he never heard of such a thing happening before. Hopefully her powers wouldn't interfere with the bonding.
Soon his mother would officially no longer be the Lady of the West. His people would have a new Lady, one with a kind and compassionate heart, which would only make their lands a better place. He knew there would be some backlash once his announcements went out, as if word wasn't spreading already, but he was prepared to put everyone in their place regarding his choice of mate. It was no one's business but his own whom he decided to make the Western Lady, and everyone would respect her or pay the price.
Kagome was nervous as well, more over his reaction to her surprise than anything else. She delayed their mating for a negligee, and now she felt somewhat silly for doing so. Still, she couldn't wait to see his face when he laid eyes on her in it. She was certain he would find it incredibly arousing.

The couple walked quickly to Sesshoumaru's chambers. Once inside, the taiyoukai turned to his soon to be mate.
"So, where is this surprise of yours?" he asked while pressing his lips in a hot trail down the side of her throat towards her shoulder. He was more than ready to bury his fangs in that special spot and mark her forever as his.
"It's in my room," she answered in a breathy voice, already turned on and eager for what was to come. "I'll go put it on." She slipped away from Sesshoumaru and left the room, leaving the Western Lord alone with his thoughts. He had no idea what this surprise might look like, but he was definitely ready to find out. Kagome was always gorgeous in his mind. She didn't need flashy outfits to arouse him, but that didn't mean he wasn't looking forward to seeing her in whatever she had crafted. He couldn't wait for her to return.

In the next room, Kagome carefully slipped on the sheer bits of fabric. She stood in front of the floor length mirror for several minutes and arranged it until it lay perfectly. She then slipped on a kimono from the closet. She wasn't going to risk someone else seeing her in something so revealing. She was nervous just letting Sesshoumaru see it. She had never worn anything similar before, the skimpiest thing she owned being her pajamas.
Her hands shook as she pulled the silk closed around her and, after a moment's consideration, the miko quickly put her hair in a messy up-do. Her taiyoukai seemed to have a thing for her neck so she figured he might like it. Besides, he would be biting her shoulder, and she didn't need blood in her hair.
She knew he was waiting for her and just the thought of it made her feel powerful. She had the strongest demon in all of Japan, if not the world, sitting and waiting for her like a good little puppy dog. She only hoped her was impressed with Amime's work. The demoness had done an exceptional job, making something unlike anything she had ever crafted before. Trying it on in front of the old woman at her fitting had been embarrassing but worth it because now it clung to her body like a glove in all the right places. He was going to love it.
