Pearly white fangs flashed in the dim room when bared at a black haired male. “Come on Sesshomaru! She needs to be seen to by a healer and you doing this won't help her any.” Red eyes narrowed when others filed into the room.
“Stay away from mate mutt. Mine!” He snarled not recognizing his pack and trying to defend what was his. Another male came into view with a black haired female just behind him, 'Sesshomaru, why won't you allow anyone near her, brother answer me!' the semi alpha tone made him shake his head before backing up a few paces and glancing at his dark haired miko.
Sango watched the affection run through her Alpha's eyes when he offered Kagome a glance, 'Inu, he loves her. It would serve you best to leave him to take care of her, she doesn't smell of sickness.' she watched her Alpha as Inu-yasha and Kouki silently conversed. The mating heat was barely a week away and Kagome was still in a coma like state. Sesshomaru didn't allow anyone near her after bringing her back to the bitches den and sealing off the den for a couple of days.
Pain....where was it coming from? Her back? No, that pain had long since been faded, so what was it paining her? Why couldn't she open her eyes or move her limbs? Was she too badly injured?
Something warm was resting on her belly, it was smooth and had something silky attached to it. 'Who is it? I want- no I need to know who it is. Sesshomaru?' The person shifted and nuzzled into her belly seeming to find the skin comforting. 'Could it really be Sesshomaru?' again the person shifted as if hearing it's name being called, 'Sesshomaru...can you hear me Sesshomaru?' something brushed against her face and she instantly moved her hand to feel it, but her hand lay unmoving.
'Kagome? Kagome come back to me, please.' But she wasn't gone, she was right there under him, couldn't he see her?
'But I’m not gone...'
“Kagome, wake up for me little one.”
She was sleeping? Was that what he wanted? For her to stop sleeping? But how could she when it seemed her body couldn't respond to her commands? Warmth enveloped Kagome's body and made her mind burn with questions.
“Awaken Kagome!”
She found some strength to turn her head and watch her dead parents and brother walk towards her, “Mother! Father! Souta!”
They smiled, “Wake up sis, the demon lord needs you now.”
“But I don't want to leave you.”
Her mother placed a hand over her own, “Do not fret my little pup, we will always be near you even when we are not.” she could feel her arms twitching and responding to her will.
“Though he may not voice it Lord Sesshomaru cares for you in his own way. Go back to him and remember how to teach others to love.”
“And sis,” she turned to see her brother standing with two very familiar people, “They want to speak with you.”
“Kagome, I thank you for caring for our daughter but I have a favor to ask you if it won't be too much. My last pup is in our last village, hidden with the rest of the villagers in a barrier, please go help them and take my baby boy in as you did Rin.”
Kagome watched as they faded like her family had, 'Good-bye my family.'
Sesshomaru nuzzled Kagome's stomach as she whispered his name, “Kagome...” She groaned before black lashes fluttered open.
“Sesshomaru...”
He purred with delight and licked her cheek, “You are well, yes?” she smiled and shook her head yes. Slowly looking at the door he mulled over his options, 1) bring in the rest of his pack and apologize to them 2) keep Kagome to himself for a few more hours or 3) hold her in his lap and keep the pack from touching her until he was sure she was fully healed to his standards. Wanting to growl as he picked up her small form and called in his pack.
Ayame was one of the first to run into the room forgetting that Sesshomaru could still be in his beast haze, but all was well to her eyes and a small sigh escaped her mouth. Kagome was seated upon his lap, blushing cherry red but looking relaxed, the large inu behind her had his node in the crook of her neck inhaling her scent. 'Kouki will he give her the mind bond like you did for us?' the black haired male nodded and was pushed to the side as a worried Inukimi made her way over to the couple on the floor.
“Kagome!” the demoness cried before receiving a low growl from her son, “I had feared the worst when I heard you went into the fire, you should have left it be! They would have died in the fire and it would have been no cost to you.”
Kagome's eyes lit up with anger, “No cost to me? No. I am not like any normal demon or miko, had I let them die then I would have died. Not to the eye of man or demon but inside I would be torn up for not even helping, they may not have been pack to me or you but they were living, breathing people that have a life to live also. Don't speak lightly of death if you don't know what it can do.”
Sango watched the two interact, afraid Inukimi would attack Kagome for her outburst. Sesshomaru seemed to have the same thoughts and tightly gripped her. But all of them got the biggest surprise as Inukimi laughed. She allowed her usually calm face to break out in a large grin and she placed a hand on her chest and a giggle flowed forth then full blown laughter. Sango gripped Inu-yasha's arm, 'Has your mother gone mad?' she asked, afraid to say it out loud. 'I really hope not.' he grumbled.
When she stopped laughing Inukimi bared her throat to Kagome and Sesshomaru, “I denounce my title as Alpha bitch and appoint you, Kagome, as the new Alpha bitch.” the room was silent as Inukimi explained why, “You care for your pack above what is called for and you would place your life on the line for those around you even if you don't know who they are. You would defend those you think as yours and those who have your heart, for all that you have earned the title of Alpha bitch.”
Taking Kagome's hands she bit the inside of her wrist before backing away, head down and her elfin ears twitching slightly. Slowly, starting with Kouki, the rest of the pack bared their throats then bowed their heads. Sesshomaru leaned down to bite her neck, marking her as his while all the same recognizing her as the new Alpha bitch. 'Mine...' He thought darkly.
