A Puzzle for Sesshomaru by FallenTenchi

A Moment Alone Please

Feeling a little restless the girl sat in one of the corners of Kaede’s hut, unable to pinpoint the reasons why such restlessness had plagued her for the past three days. Naturally such restlessness had given her agitated nights and her sleep pattern had been greatly disturbed which had brought on a bit of frustration toward everyone that had surrounded her for no apparent reason to them. Although they talked and laughed as they all sat inside Kaede’s hut, none of them tried including the young woman in their conversations.

As the day went on, the frustration had morph into something the young maiden could only identify as a total irritation towards anything that dare breathe near her… and so, considering the way she had been feeling for most of the day, she had deemed justified to take a walk alone to think about what was happening with her emotions.  Of course, such suggestion had engendered a violent dispute between herself and Inuyasha, whom the latter had received more then once the faithful command to “sit” before the girl had departed from Kaede’s village.

As both parties walked toward the well, the miko had repeatedly told him she needed a moment to herself, heck she had even invented a need for a bath, even though she had taken one that same morning, only to be alone. Yet the darn demon still demanded that she brought someone with her.

Getting exasperated with the mule headed boy, she had started walking faster only for him to fallow her, yelling and calling her names, which had resulted in the first 10 consecutive “sit” commands. Her reaction to the inu-hanyou had only enraged the half-demon to the point of manhandling the girl by grabbing her by the waist and throwing her over his shoulder while trying to bring her back to the village.

Naturally, that hadn’t sat very well with the young miko, whom had deem such manhandling as an injustice to her person. The consequences to the hanyou had been considerably harder then he had been expected. Kagome had projected her miko power that had almost purify the stupidity out of the half-demon. In response to her vicious attack, he had dropped the miko on her read, leaving her with bruises and cuts in places the young woman didn’t even want to think about, to shake her violently while still screaming at her. That had ensure a miko power slap in the face to the hanyou, to which the inu-half-demon had responded to by jumping on the miko holding her wrist above her head to have her submit, but the miko would never submit…

The fight had continued for almost half an hour, until the young miko had made a crater in the shape of the an hanyou with the many consecutive commend to “sit”, before leaving through the well to go to her time. Of course, the whole ordeal had been terrible for both parties, leaving the both of them with ugly bruises and cut on there exposed body parts. As she felt the magic of the well diminished she was surprised to find that Inuyasha hadn’t pursued her to continue the fight on her side of the well.

With a grim smile on her face, the miko though that maybe the idiot feared her just a little bit this time around, but then she thought she was probably veiling her eyes to the real reason why the half-demon hadn’t followed her.

If only the darn boy hadn’t been so stubborn, maybe they could have talked it out…. But noooo!!! With him it had to be my way or violence will ensue!

Rolling her eyes at the nothingness that met her eyes, the young woman gave an aggravated sighed. Making her way to the Goshinboku tree to sit beneath it’s canopy, she had a moment of reflection. Now that she thought about the whole fight, she felt somewhat bad about what she had done to the poor half-demon. Then again, as she tried speaking to herself about feeling bad for everything she had done, the young girl realized it didn’t really matter what she told herself, she still felt a certain justice was done in what had transpired between her and the inu-hanyou.

Was it really so bad to ask to be alone for a sort while? Even if such request demanded that she be in her own time? He always fought with her on everything and he always achieved at making things worst between them … Yet, she kept going back to him.  Was that really what she wanted out of life? A man that screamed and treated her badly? Maybe Eri, Yuka and Ayumi had been right in their concern toward Inuyasha’s bad attitude when Kagome had first mentioned the boy to her girl friends.

The miko’s mind keep reeling with all the thoughts that were becoming a jumble of emotions she couldn’t quite understand herself. The big blue sky that was partially covered with fluffy little white cloud, left the young girl unsatisfied with her life as it was now.

Hearing someone coming up the shrine step, Kagome looked up to see her younger brother with a couple of his friend and her mother arriving home. Getting up from her sitting position, doing her best to not inflict anymore pain to her already bruised and battered body, the young miko met the gang half way through to courtyard, inciting an excited hello from her brother before he departed with his friends to play video games,  and a loving and tender moment with her mother that resulted in her having to explained to her mother what had happened for her to be so bruised and cut after cringing as her mother hugged her little girl.

With her mother’s insisting, the miko had found herself plunged in a hot bath, getting her hair washed by the motherly touched of her okaasan, before she was sat in front of a hot cup of tea in the kitchen wearing new a pair of black yoga pant that did wonders to her bottom, and a matching black and cerulean blue tank top, that had an inserted bra for more comfort, her long black hair with midnight blue streaks had been braided on her back after being vigorously towel dried by her mother.

The miko couldn’t say she didn’t still feel a certain restlessness as she sat opposed to her mother’s turned back, but she definitely felt better being back home.  While the older woman was preparing the supper for the whole gang of little mouths Sota had brought home, Kagome explained to her mother what had been plaguing the poor girl for the past couple of days.

Apprehensive to the tears her daughter had started shedding as the young maiden explained the nightmares that had been on her mind, the older woman had stopped her cooking to hug her daughter’s shoulders, trying her best to provided some sense of comfort to the poor girl that had seen enough of the Feudal Era for her to have nightmares for the rest of her life.

As tears tracked on her cheeks, it suddenly dawned on the younger maiden that she had started feeling agitated and somewhat angry after the first night she had her awful nightmare where Naraku had won the final battle. Gradually she started feeling better.  Looking up at her mama, Kagome smiled through the tears, letting the older maiden know that she would be alright after all.

After a supper surrounded by family members and Sota’s friends, the young miko felt definitely better and was ready to face the very pissed off inu-hanyou that she just knew would be waiting for her on the other end of the well.

Kissing her okaasan’s, jiji-san’s, and her brother’s cheeks before jumping down the well. The young woman promised the present family members to be back before long.

As she felt the mystic energy of the well surround her, not for the first time, she thought about all that she had accomplished since she had first fell down this old well.  Who would have thought a 16 year old could travel through time … It was almost as ridiculous as that movie she had once seen called Back To The Future. Unlike the boy in that movie, Kagome wasn’t jeopardizing her life in the future while being in the past… well at least she thought she wasn’t…

Musing over the last thought as her feet touched grown, she started climbing up the side of the well, without looking at the top. She was almost to the top when she suddenly had a feeling of being watched.  Suddenly looking up, the girl found herself nose to nose with a certain Daiyoukai. Startled at her proximity to the Lord of the Western land, the young miko lost her grip on the side of the walls of the well, making her fall rapidly at the bottom of the well hurting her bum for the second time on the day.

Her first reaction was anger… but then it dawn on the girl that the most deadly demon had just seen her materialize at the bottom of the well and that said inu-demon could very well have killed her just for the pleasure of the kill.

Tentatively looking up all, her fears and her somewhat irritation at hurting her derriere again evaporated as a giggle escaped her.  The look on the demon lord face was a mastercard moment – priceless!

Sesshomaru stood there, looking down the well at her, as if she was the 8th wonder of the world.

Both parties remained speechless as they evaluated the reaction of each another to the appearance of the other.  Having had enough of sitting in the cold, humid and dirty bottom of the well, Kagome made the first very polite conversationalist move.

“Please, mi lord, could you either  help me out of this well or please move just a little so I can get out of my own accord.” The young girl said while still looking up at a very confounded Inuyoukai, as she got up and moved to the side of the well.

Seeing the Demon Lord move slightly, the miko restarted her ascend to the ground level and to the Inu-Daiyoukai that was awaiting her.  As her legs straddled the lips of the well, the young maiden surveyed her surroundings wondering slightly how come Inuyasha wasn’t around and why the boy hadn’t felt his onii’s aura – The hanyou was probably sulking somewhere around here… or maybe he’s with Kikyo thought the young miko.  Surprisingly enough, the last thought left her with no irritation or heartbreak. Not so long ago the miko would have ran home from the feeling of jealousy felt toward Inuyasha spending time with the undead miko.

With her back turned and her mind away from the demon that stood not too far from her, she heard said demon “Hn!”.  Still slightly afraid of his reaction to her reappearance at the bottom of the well, she turned about ready to explain to him why she could disappear and reappear at will. Fortunately for her, the Lord of the Western land cut her short in her explanation.

“Miko, you are a puzzle for this Sesshomaru,” her said while looking at the miko that now stood before him. “And this Sesshomaru doesn’t know how he feels about this.” The demon lord continued in a sort of whisper, as if talking to himself. Maybe the Inu-demon was thinking out loud thought the young miko as she surveyed the Kami looking man who suddenly seem oblivious to the young girl.

Laughing behind her hand, Kagome looked at the demon that stood before her with a wicked grin “Unfortunately for you, Sesshomaru, you may never know what my real secret is.” the young miko replied, smirking, before she made her way toward Kaede’s Village, leaving a very perplexed Daiyoukai behind her.
