Rising to Greet the Day by BlueHeavensAngel

Unexpected Events

Inuyasha is the property of Rumiko Takahashi.  Not me.  No matter how much I wish it were so.

Opening her eyes, Kagome decided today just wasn’t going to be her day.  Above her Sesshomaru hovered with a lustful look in his eyes.

Normally such a look wasn’t unwelcome, but Kagome had spent the previous night working late on a request for her most recent client and she just wasn’t in the mood.  Today was her only day off and Kagome felt it was only right that she spend the day however she wanted.  Sesshomaru was the CEO of his own company.  He could take off any day he wanted and today was going to be her day whether he liked it or not!

Taking decisive action, Kagome quickly rolled off the bed to avoid Sesshomaru’s incoming kiss.  Her husband gave her a questioning look, but Kagome brushed it off as she heard her cell phone ringing.

Answering in the most pleasant voice she could muster, Kagome discovered it was her client hysterically babbling on the other line.  Kagome worked as wedding planner and was used to frantic brides in her line of work, but she had been hoping for a reprieve today.  Calmly Kagome placated her client, assuring her everything was in place for her wedding.

Setting down the phone, Kagome could feel the stress tensing up her back.  Looking back at Sesshomaru, she could see he was pouting like a child who had his favorite toy taken away.  Deciding he could wait, Kagome settled for taking a soothing shower.  She gathered her things and entered the bath adjoined to their bedroom, locking the door behind her.  It wouldn’t really stop Sesshomaru should he decide to enter, but he knew better than to do that, lest he wished be banished to the couch for an extended period of time.

Kagome showered leisurely, basking in the hot water.  Turning off the shower, Kagome dressed quickly and prepared to brush her hair when she heard a shrill cry from the other room.  Throwing down her brush, Kagome ran to the source of the sound.

Reaching her front door, Kagome was greeted with quite a sight.  Before her she found her neighbor, Noriko, sprawled on the floor with her head in her hands looking mortified.  At the door was Sesshomaru with an irate look and the remnants of a pie dripping down his face.

Kagome desperately tried to hold back her laughter as she walked forward to help her distraught neighbor.  After sometime she was able to help Noriko settle down and sent her on her way home, but not without many apologies and promises of more baked goods to make up for the event.

After closing the door, Kagome was left to deal with a now very frustrated husband.  Ushering him towards the shower she caught one last look of him as he rounded the corner.  Smiling, Kagome decided that maybe today wouldn’t be so bad after all.

A/N:  I hoped you liked my story.  It's my first one as I was unexpectedly hit by a plunny.  Please let me know if I made any errors. Constructive Criticism is helpful and always welcome.
