Her broken form lay still, her eyes wide in shock as her hanyou was tossed carelessly to the ground. Her sapphire eyes stared sadly at Inuyasha as the life faded from his once bright golden eyes. fpr a moment she only stood there, her brain trying to tell her it had seen wrong, that what she had seen couldn't possibly have happened.  But her heart told her otherwise, and soon she was on her feet, ignoring the evil cackles of Naraku, leaving behind the lifeless shell of her friends as she ran to his side.

Her hands grabbed hold of him. " Inu- Inuyasha?" she whispered.  His voice was raspy and weak, but he smiled sadly at her. Blood covered his body, multiple gashes all over him....he truly was a gruesome sight.  " Kagome....run." Brows furrowing, she shook her head vigorously like a stubborn child. "No! I won't leave you! You can't make me!" She buried her head in his chest. he laughed grimly. "Narak-ku" " I don't give a damn!" She cried stubbornly, and held his face in her hands. Her voice softened. "Don't leave me Inuyasha.."  The grim smile vanished from his bloody face.

"I have to..." he anxiously awaited her reaction. Surprisingly, her voice was still quiet. " No, we could go together..." yhe hanyou's hand snapped up to hers. "That's......not an option."

Inuyasha sat up with the help of Kagome, and watched with disgust as the vile Naraku eyed Kagome with Hungry eyes. Slowly, Inuyasha stood, tears threatening to spill from his eyes as they landed on his other companions lying still on the ground.

"Kagome, I want you to promise me something...before I go..." Tetsaiga was held tightly in his hands as he realized these would be his last words. He'd better make then good. " Yes, Inuyasha?"  " I want you to-" Naraku's laugh erupted through the air. His eyes glowed evilly as a mocking, arrogant smile appeared on his face. "You dare to stand and defy me again, Inuyasha? Surely you have learned your lesson?" " You're filfth...digusting...that's why today will go on in  history as the day i kicked your sorry ass." Naraku didn't even flinch, so assured was he that today all, including the little miko would be his. Inuyasha turned back to Kagome> "I want you to promise me after this is over...that you'll move on...that you'll find some lucky guy to love, and have a few brats." Kagome's eyes were wide  with shock. "No...Inuyasha! no!"  "You promised." Her eyes watered, but no tears fell. He smiled one last time at her, and the sadness, the longing in that smile made her step back. "Inuyasha..." she whispered.

"Enough of this pathetic display of infatuation. Miko, soon you willl be mine." Naraku, jewel in hand rushed towards the Hanyou, not even bothering to put up the barrier. A smirk on his face, Inuyasha said one last thing: "I love you Kagome. Be happy." and with evry last ounce of strength he had, Inuyasha struck. "WIND SCAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Naraku"s eyes widened in fear and rage and terrible agony as he and Inuyasha were both engulfed in the bright golden light that erupted from the Tetsaiga. Suddenly, the light died down, and Kagome Sprinted to where she'd last seen her love.  Her  friend's corpses had disappeared and where they once where was  golden dust. Where Inuyasha and the vile creature had once been were: the Shikon, glowing brightly with malice, the other, Tetsaiga, reverted b6ack to an ordinary Katana. A breeze glided lazily against her, ruffling her ebony locks almost gently as she sobbed into the ground. "No...no..no no no no NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" She screamed a heartwrenching scream to the heavens, bright tears running fast down her pale bloodied face.  She idly remembered her promise to Inuyasha and the last words he'd said to her. She looked to the sky, an agonized expression on her face. 'How can I move on, how can I be happy without you?'

Standing, she grabbed Tetsaiga, and snatched up the jewel, watching as it instantly purified. "All of this, the pain, the heartache, it's all because of  YOU!" She shrieked, her arm throwing it across the field. Fists clenched, she glared at the place she'd thrown it and cursed to herself. "No, Inu...Inuyasha wouldn't have wanted me to be this way...." Sighing, she wiped away her tears and slowly walked to the place she'd thrown the jewel.
