A deadly aroma filled the air. Swirling and filling the dark dank cell that Kagome sat in. Her hair was flat black around her face. Dull blue eyes stared off into the distance. The only trace that Kagome could smell the toxic odor was the slight twitch of a rather pale, limp hand.

Her eyes, long adjusted to the darkness of her hell, scanned the interior for what might be emitting such a foul smell. Nothing could be seen but the rodents and bugs that flittered across her feet and the walls.

The only way out of this prison was the steal door to her right, iron bars took up most of the surface. It hadn't been open in weeks. Except for the little door at the bottom to push in the gruel they tried to feed her.

She didn't know if it had been weeks, months, or years since she had been captured by Naraku's henchmen. Nor did she quite care anymore. The darkness was uninterrupted, her thoughts ever swirling of what had happened to her friends.

The smell became stronger; Kagome's eyes started to water and her muscles began to tense. Naraku must be coming. No one's evil stench could repulse her more. It sent waves of nausea through her. Her already empty stomach heaving.

It filled the cell and sucked the air and energy out, leaving only it's almost visible evil entity lingering in the room.

Glazed eyes glanced once more at the door, her eyes the only thing that moved. The rodents and bugs in the room seemed to stand at a still as well; understanding that this might be the last day they lived.

The door slowly creaked open, evil slapping at Kagome's tattered body. Her eyes widened slightly, but she did not have the energy to even scoot back away from the monster that stood at the door. Red eyes glowed at her in a face framed in black hair. Chills raced up and down her arms.

He was here to kill her. She was sure of it.

"Kagome." His dark voice rumbled, amusement laced it.

She didn't respond. There was no need to. He could sense that she was terrified, but resistance to him had faded away along with her energy. She did not have the strength to go up against this monster.

"I have a present for you Kagome. I think you will be most surprised."

Still she said nothing, it didn't seem that anything could surprise her at this point in time. But Naraku stepped back, and she couldn't help but be stunned. Shackled and bloodied, Sesshoumaru stood behind Naraku.

He lifted his head and stared back at her, recognition lit his eyes. But there was something different about it. Something that had never been there before. A type of warmth where before there had been nothing but piercing cold.

Naraku let out a wicked laugh, his evil once again almost knock her flat against the rotted floor.

"You shall have a cell mate Kagome." With that he shoved the dishevled and beaten Sesshoumaru into the cell and shut the door.

Sesshoumaru stumbled but did not fall. He looked through the darkness to Kagome.

"Are you all right?" he asked softly, and with a groan took a seat beside her.

She was incredulous.

"Your bleeding, and you ask me if I'm all right?"

He shook his head, and then met her stare.

"This Sesshoumaru has been searching for you. I ask again. Are you all right?"

"I-I suppose... How long have I been here?" she asked quietly.

Sesshoumaru looked down at his hands, still shackled. He squeezed tightly and the shackles broke free.

"It's been 4 months since you were captured. This Sesshoumaru had thought you were dead. Naraku led me here through out of his nonsensical games. That is when I caught your sent. This is not my blood Kagome."

Kagome's eyes went wider and wider. He had called her by her name. He was being nice to her! When had that happened?

But she didn't comment. She just stared at him, as he was staring at her. Then before she knew it, he was kissing her.

He pulled her into his lap and kissed and softly, his lips roaming over hers sensually.

This kiss didn't last long, and she had no time to understand.

The Toxic evil was back... and it seemed stronger.

Sesshoumaru let Kagome remain on his lap. She felt his body tense as he too could sense the danger just lurking outside the door. As if on cue, Naraku's laughter flooded the room.

Eyes searching the room, Kagome grasped Sesshoumaru's arms. This was going to be her end. And she was with the one person who she had thought hated her. She was with the person who had given her a kiss to last her a life time and she didn't know why. She was with Sesshoumaru.

And with that thought, the door flung open. Naraku was waiting. Would this be their end? Or was it just a beginning?
