Legend of Love: Twin Swords by Sha

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

"Tell me what you know of this prophecy." Came a cold voice.

Shrinking back, the small crane youkai gave a hesitant nod. "I know not alot my lord, but there was said that the miko's have knowledge of the two legendary swords. Both are a pair, one of ying and yang...good and evil...pure and tainted...and ...."

"Speak it now Yoshi-ke, before this Sesshoumaru ends your pathetic excuse of a life." He growled, fixing a hand upon his Tokajin.

"Of course!" He exclaimed, taking a hasty step back. "The swords are to only be wielded by a youkai and a miko..." Pausing, he frowned. "My lord, may I ask a question?"

Raising an eyebrow he merely awaited him to speak.

"Do you wish to gain the two swords of power?"

"Yes."

"Then it is my duty to inform you my lord, that you will not acheive such."

"What do you speak of?"

"The swords of legend can only be wielded by a youkai and a miko.....that are mated and share what humans call love."

Narrowing his eyes, his hand quickly took hold upon the cranes slender throat. Effortlessly lifting him off the ground and to eye level, Sesshoumaru growled. "You dare lie to this Sesshoumaru?"

"N...nno my l...lord! I would nev...never...." Pointing to the table to their left, he motioned to the old and dusty scroll. "It's there....in the old paper of the ancients. They speak of how it was created and....oaf!" Landing on his ass, Yoshi-ke sighed.

Gathering it and facing him, Sesshoumaru narrowed his eyes. "Who else knows of the swords?"

"No one.....no one that's youkai that is."

"Who?"

"The elder miko of Endo...."

Turning, he quickly took his leave.

Seeing the familiar village come into sight, she couldn't help the peaceful sigh that left her.

"It's good to be back." Sango voice beside her.

Nodding, Kagome hesitantly looked to the hanyou before them. Recalling what occur the night before, she lowered her head.

"Kagome-chan?"

"It's nothing, Sango." She mumbled rushing pass all and moving towards Kaede's hut.  Spotting her a little ways before it, she gave a small smile. "Gardening as always, I see."

Standing and dusting herself she frowned. "Something ails you child. I can see it in your aura." She calmly replied, giving her a hug.

Once released, she sighed. "It's nothing...I just....."

"I'm going hunting.....don't wait up." And with that, Inuyasha rushed off within the forest.

Instantly understanding, Kaede sighed. "Child, I know that ye' loves young Inuyasha, but it is time that ye' have let him go. This is not healthy for one so young to be stressed."

"Kaede, I was finally over him....but when Kikyo was thought dead by Naraku, he professed his love for me...Now that she's alive, it's like....he forgot  and don't want me no more." Kagome lowly stated as Sango wrapped an arm around her.

"It'll be okay. Don't let him get to you, Kagome-chan. You don't need him."

"I must agree." Miroku added. "Inuyasha is not in the right of mind to see what he had. You are now nineteen summers and if I must say, you are quite beautiful."

"Miroku..." Sango warned, moving to hit him.

"You misunderstand my beloved. I was merely saying that there will be many a more that will come and that Inuyasha won't be the last." He hastily voiced, taking a step back.

Easing and turning back to her, she frowned. "Why don't you go home for a few days and cool off. It's a lot to take in these past few days."

Nodding, Kagome quickly said her goodbyes and soon found herself nearing the well.

Staring down its depths, she wanted to cry. This was where it all began.

Her love with Inuyasha and all the hardships they went through.

Dropping her bag and sitting on the lip of the well, she closed her eyes.  All she saw was him; it was all just too painful.

She just couldn't understand. Why would he want to be with Kikyo over her. Sure she wasn't there for him and helped him to learn to love, but didn't all their time together mean anything to him? What about her always caring for him and never giving up on him? Even when he was ruled by his blood, she never left him....never.

Raising a hand and feeling tears course her face, she sighed. Retrieving her bag and jumping into the well, she swam through the realm of time.
