Harvest by Sereia

Plant

They'd given her a small patch of earth to plant things in, claiming she could grow anything, even during a drought. Kagome would've agreed had they not also placed a collar around her neck to stifle her power, so what she had been able to grow was minuscule at best.

Humans feared anything abnormal, and this group seemed the most proactive about it. She'd made her life as a wandering healer, specializing in herb-based cures. She could cure the sick and injured outright, but she'd learned quickly that doing so would label her as other, and running from mobs cut in on her sleep.

She'd thought herself safe this time. The village had been welcoming, especially since an outbreak of smallpox ravaged their population. But after her medicinal tea hadn't worked on a small child, Kagome had broken her vow and used her powers to bring the girl back from the brink of death. The parents had been grateful, but the village head had been wary, and she'd been dragged from her hut in the middle of the night.

Murmurs of 'witch' had followed the unmistakable click of metal around her neck, and she'd immediately found her powers muted. Try as she might, the lock was steadfast, leaving her to whittle away at her pathetic excuse for a garden.
