Summary: Celebrating Gion Matsuri!

All are 100 words.

Prompt: Fireworks

Kagome had always enjoyed festivals. Especially the opening ceremonies of the most famous ones. It was July and time for the Gion Matsuri! It seemed that even demons celebrated this: given that the demon city that InuYasha had found - and the clan leader had allowed them to stay - was buzzing with life for this evening festivities: fireworks.

Kagome had managed to wander away from her group and had surprisingly run into Sesshomaru and Rin. Sesshomaru had looked down at her and Rin cheered. "Kagome-oneesama is here! Sesshomaru-sama, can we get her a Kimono too?"

Sesshomaru obliged, oddly enough.

Prompt: Sublock

The fireworks had been amazing and experiencing them with Sesshomaru and Rin had been more welcome than originally anticipated. Turning to the little girl, Kagome asked within hearing volume, if Rin wished to join her on the beach the next day. Excitedly, Rin had turned to her protector. He merely nodded with a slight "hnn".

This found them on the sandy shore the next day, Kagome's large bag opened and she was liberally applying a strange smelling (though unoffending) substance to Rin's arms and legs.

Sighting Sesshomaru's questioning look, she held up the bottle. "It's sunscreen!"

Prompt: Tanning Oil

Seemingly satisfied that Rin's skin was completely covered with the 'sunscreen' as she had called it, Kagome deposited that bottle and retrieved a second from her bag. This one had a stronger smell and Kagome began spreading it onto her skin. This substance made the exposed extremity glisten in the sun and almost made her smell... edible, even though it had a slight flowery scent to it. Kagome caught his gaze once more and a slight blush covered her already pink face.

"It is suntan oil... you can use it on your skin so the sun will darken it."

Prompt: Fireflies

Sesshomaru snorted. Why would anyone want to do that? He did not voice this, however, instead, he settled himself next to her on the fabric she had laid against the sand to protect her. They watched Rin play in the water and built sand castles until the sun disappeared under the water and the moon was bright in the sky.

Sleepy, Rin was curled up in Kagome's lap, her eyes barely able to keep open, as suddenly tiny little lights began to light up before them.

"Kagome-oneesama, what is that?"

Kagome smiled at her, "they're fireflies, Rin."

Prompt: Beach

Kagome seemed quite keen on just staying on this beach, Sesshomaru noted, as she continued to watch the tiny lights of the fireflies flicker on and off as time ticked by. She had covered Rin in a light blanket, effectively covering her legs as well and had begun to doze off where she sat, leaning lightly against his person.

Surprisingly to him, he was unoffended at this act and instead of pushing her away, readjusted himself to be seated behind them, pulled his pelt over his should and covered the small miko with it, creating a furry pillow for Rin.

Prompt: Grill

The next morning for poor Kagome was ... awkward to say the least. Comfortably cuddled up against the daiyokai's chest, she noticed Rin had awoken conveniently before her and was staring at her and Sesshomaru with curious eyes. Kagome cleared her throat and slowly pulled away, Sesshomaru's pelt falling away from her shoulders.

"Let's say we cook some fish, eh?"

Rin cheered and that's how Sesshomaru found himself staying at the oddest contraption he had ever seen the miko produce from her large yellow bag. Some sort of metal thing you put wood in, a grill. Interesting.

Prompt: Heat

The human miko managed to start the fire and the sticks she and Rin had gathered set ablaze. Some part of Sesshomaru was pleased that this woman - and his charge - could accomplish such a feat. He could feel the heat against his legs as the two girls skewered fish and placed it upon the metal grate that kept it from touching the burning wood. The smell of cooked fish entered the air, giving the salty air an appetising scent. He never ate cooked food, but just this once, he would possibly oblige.

Kagome looked to him, "do you... want some?"

Prompt: Sweat

Sesshomaru looked at the offered fish and nodded, taking it from Kagome, who turned back towards the fire to continue cooking the fish. Kagome brought her arm up, using the sleeve of her Kimono to dab away the sweat that had formed on her forehead. It was rather warm for a summer morning as such.

Sighting this, Rin seemed to get an idea looked to a large tree behind his person. "Sesshomaru-sama, would you get that large leaf from that tree?" He nodded, retrieving the leaf and Rin took it, beginning to fan the little miko, who smiled.

"Thanks."
