Yeah, girl. That's not cute. She's so irresponsibile and just as rash as Inuyasha. The reason why the pack protects is becaus they care about her, know she's weak as hell AND she's the only one who can complete the jewel and destroy it. Constantly running into danger and sacrificing herself puts their effort in vain.
Meh. I'm not one to agree with Kagome's version of mothering in the anime or in most fanfiction. She seems smothering, especially with regards to a youkai child that needs to be toughened up becuase all he does is whine and complain and get in the way. Not only that, but he's prey for more powerful demons and humans alike, so what good will babying him do? You can kind of see the effect having a human mother did to Inuyasha with how selfish, child-like, rash and sometimes uncontrollable he is.
And I can see the wisdom in comfort is earned. Is that not how most mature adults treat their leisure time and excess money? They work hard in order to be comfortable. And is that not how leaders, espcially royalty, are trained? Does Kagome not sacrifice herself for the care of others? In a sense, she's abiding by the same rule whenever she denies herself something for the sake of another person.
Sesshou's mother didn't seem cruel in the canon - more like aloof and cunning - but for strange reason (Izayoi probably), authors prefer writing her that way. In fact, humans are put on this strange pedestal in the Inu universe that I never understood., considering it was mostly humans who were starting crap with Inu and others who associated with demons.
I'm just rambling, though. I feel the need to do it whenever I see Kagome's character going overboard with the altruisic, sunny-side always up bit.
This:
"...And yet... who will remember you, Sesshoumaru? Without Rin's love, you would be lost to time – forgotten. And since I come from the future, I can say with surety – your deeds have all been forgotten... but there is a legend of the youkai Lord of the West – who was loved by a simple human child. So you see... it is love that will be remembered – that will withstand even time.True power found in the heart of what you call a weakness. Strange, isn't it?”
Was simply awesome. Power in memory of love. That's so awesome. Well written and explained
Yuya (Chapter 50) - Fri 17 Apr 2015
I laughed very hard at this, when I realized the implications of the "curse". Looks like that dark miko stole Sesshoumaru's thunder, and all his hard work was for naught. =)
Nicole (Chapter 9) - Thu 28 Aug 2014
This is one of my favourite chapters out of all your stories. I love the idea that souls are all the same, it is only the physical that is different. Where it really counts we all stand on equal footing.
